U běžně prodávaných pastí je návnada napichována na trn, vytvořený na plíšku, který je kyvné připevněn na základní desce. Druhý konec plíšku má otvor, do nějž se zasune konec drátu, který je na druhém konci volně připojen k základní desce. Tento drát zadržuje sklapovací drát, který je pod něj přitažen. Podstata vynálezu je ve změně líčení návnady a změně mechanismu, který uvolňuje sklapovací drát. Dvouramenná přidržovací páka, připevněná vahadlově k základní desce, jedním ramenem zadržuje sklapovací drát, jenž je pod tlakem předpjaté skrutné pružiny, a druhým ramenem současně přidržuje návnadu. Odebere-li se návnada, druhé rameno uvolní cestu sklapovacímu drátu a ten zasáhne hlodavce. Rameno v pohybu opisuje menší oblouk než sklapovací drát.
