Abstract

In the present invention, there is disclosed a closure cap (1) for closing a liquid container (4) such as a vial, flask etc., having takeout means (14) for withdrawing liquid from the container (4) without removing the cap (1) and thereafter re-closing it, and protecting means (22) for proving the authenticity of the content of the container (4) characterized by a skirt portion (2) and a cover (3), a recessed trough (6) in the cover for a foldable spout (14) having a spherical bearing portion (15) seated in a cylindrical portion (7) of the trough (6), and a channel (17) extending lengthwise through the spout (14).

Field of the invention

The invention relates to a closure cap for closing a fluid container such as a vial, a flask, etc., having a collection means for removing fluid from the container without the cap being removed and the container can subsequently be reclosed, and protective means to prove the authenticity of the contents of the container .

Bottle cap caps are well known in everyday life with collection means for withdrawing a small amount of fluid from the bottle and then re-closing it, such as liquid soap, shampoo, spices, etc. Most of these cap caps may not be tamper-proof. Where they must be, they are usually provided with a separate seal which is broken upon first opening.

For pharmaceutical or other uses where the authenticity of the contents of the container is absolutely critical and, in addition, the sterility of the contents must be guaranteed throughout the entire process until the entire container is used up, no satisfactory solution is available to date. This is particularly true when, for economic reasons, it is necessary to manufacture the closure caps easily and fit them onto the container.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The purpose of the present invention is to provide such a closure cap that satisfies all these requirements.

According to the invention this is achieved by a closure cap with the features defined in the claims.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The closure cap, as shown, consists of a main part with a cylindrical or slightly conical shell 2 and a substantially flat circular cap 3. In use, the shell 2 tightly encloses the neck of the container 4. For this purpose, the inner surface of the shell 2 is provided with the closure cap snaps firmly into the outwardly directed corresponding annular frames (not shown) on the periphery of the container neck. This is well known in the art.

The cover is substantially flat, but has a groove 6 selected in its upper surface. The groove 6 has side walls 7-9 and a bottom 11. A substantially cylindrical side wall portion 7 surrounds the central axis of the closure cap over most of the solid circle, i.e. about 330 °. On one side, i.e. in the direction of the remaining solid circle, the groove 6 extends into the housing 2 of the closure cap. To this end, the groove 6 has a radially extending side wall portion 8. In the case 2, the groove 6 has a part 9 of the inclined side wall. As a result of this arrangement of the side walls, the bottom H is approximately in the shape of a keyhole with obliquely extending sides as seen from above.

The cylindrical side wall portion 7 is provided with an annular bulge 12 extending towards the axis or center of the closure cap. An opening 13 is provided in the center of the annular part of the bottom 10 '.

The channel 6 is a location for the hinged spout 14. The hinged spout 14 comprises a spherical receptacle 15 and an elongated beak portion 16. An open channel 17 extends on both sides of the spherical receptacle 15 and the elongated beak portion 16.

The spherical bearing portion 15 is sized such that its diameter is slightly larger than the narrowest diameter of the bulge 12. The axial position of the bulge is such that

The distance between its narrower diameter and the lowest point of the circular portion of the groove 6 is slightly larger than the diameter of the spherical bearing part 15. As a result of this dimensional arrangement, the spherical bearing part 15 clicks into the position shown in FIG. 2, in which it is held in position. The lower surface of the spherical bearing part 15 simultaneously closes the opening 13.

When the spherical receiving portion 15 is retracted, its shoulder allows the spout to be rotated such that the beak-shaped portion 16 is in a vertical position in which the channel is aligned with the opening. Thus, in this position, fluid may flow out of the interior of the container through the opening and the channel.

The beak-shaped portion 16 has an inclined face 18 which abuts the tapered portion 9 of the wall. Above the upper edge of the tapered wall portion 9, the beak portion 16 has two lids 19 extending on both sides of the recess 21 beyond the outer surface of the housing 2.

The recess 21 of the spout portion is connected to the housing 2 by means of a thin strip-shaped plate 22 having flattened areas 23 of reduced thickness to attach it to the housing 2 and to the spout. The reduced thickness pads 23 form clearly defined break zones. The plate 22 has a substantially semicircular extension 24 on the side of the central portion thereof, which serves as a grip for detaching the plate upon first fluid withdrawal from the container. The plate 22 therefore forms a tamper-proof seal.

All parts of the closure cap, i.e. the housing, cap, spout and plate 22 are molded as one piece in position as shown in Figure 3. After the closure cap is removed from the mold, the spout is bent into the groove 6 as shown by the arrow in Figure 3. Upon complete bending about two pivot points 23, the spherical bearing portion 15 snaps into its shoulder and the closure cap is ready to be fitted onto the container.

When the user wants to collect the first dose of liquid, he first removes the plate 22 with either his finger or some tool.

The beak-shaped portions 16 rotate the spout to a vertical position. Upon withdrawing the required amount of fluid, the spout is rotated back into the trough 6, closing the opening while concealing the channel behind the slanted side of the side portion, preventing contamination of the fluid.
