Abstract

The decorative sheet material for production of decorative and/or utility articles of arbitrary, especially flat shapes is composed of the basic carrying layer with optional decoration, which is protected by transparent plastic laminating foil. The basic carrying layer can be a textile layer with decoration on its face side and plastic laminating foil is applied to this decorated side of the basic carrying layer or to the backside of this textile layer. The basic carrying layer can be also a paper layer decorated on one side only, plastic laminating foil is applied to the basic carrying layer on the decorated side, and the reverse side of this basic carrying foil is protected by self-adhesive white contrast foil.

Technical field

The present invention relates to a textile or paper-based decorative material for the production of 5 decorative or utility articles of any kind, in particular of a flat shape, which can be used, for example, in the home or workplace.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

To date, various types of decorative material for making small objects are known, which can also be utility articles. These are particularly such items as various placemats, dish mats, flowers, lampshades, but also ceiling wall cladding boards and the like. For the production of these articles are used mainly paper, textiles, plastics eg.

polystyrene, cork or ceramic or natural material such as straw. In the vast majority of cases, this is a single-layer material. The disadvantage of these materials is either their limited use or their short lifetime or high production costs. For example, when using paper or textile placemats or various mats, their mechanical or thermal damage is slightly damaged, their creases and their unpleasant aesthetic appearance and, last but not least, their maintenance in their original state, especially in terms of maintaining their original color, is difficult. Commonly used plastics, for example, for placemats or kitchen liners, are very easily destructible by heat, so they are not suitable for storing very warm containers, for example. As far as cork, straw or polystyrene are concerned, these materials are mostly used without any decoration, since such treatment is not easy, especially for more complex designs. In the case of ceramics, this is a relatively costly material.

The essence of the technical solution

The aforementioned drawbacks are eliminated by the decorative material for the production of decorative or utility articles of any, especially surface, shape according to the present invention. Its essence is that in the basic simplest embodiment it consists of a base supporting layer with a marked decoration, which is provided with a transparent plastic laminating foil. In this case, the base carrier layer is mostly a fabric with a decoration on the front side. According to the intention of the creator of the resulting decorative article, the plastic laminating foil is positioned either on the decor side of the base support layer or on the reverse, i.e., reverse, side of the fabric.

In another embodiment, the base carrier layer is a paper-based embodiment with a decoration marked on one side. The plastic laminating foil is then placed on the base support layer from the decor side and the reverse side of the base support foil, i.e. the decorless side, is provided with a self-adhesive white contrasting foil. This self-adhesive white contrasting foil can be single or double sided 35. In the case of a double-sided adhesive film, the film is further provided with an additional layer of thermally non-conductive material. This layer of thermally non-conductive material is, for example, cork or foam.

The advantage of the present solution is that it results in a simple and inexpensive way to produce a material with great variability in the use of decor, which is easy to process into shapes of various decorative and utility items. It has a very long lifetime while maintaining its visual properties and high heat resistance. Glossy or matt foil can be used to extend the resulting appearance of the material. This material is very easy to maintain because it is washable and therefore only wiping with a damp cloth.

Example of technical solution

In the simplest embodiment, the decorative material for the production of the decorative or utility articles is formed as a two-layer, wherein a transparent plastic laminating foil, i.e. a film with a thermally activatable adhesive, is applied to the base carrier layer with the indicated decoration.

In this case, the base carrier layer is usually a fabric with a front side decoration. The plastic laminating foil is then placed either over the decor or on the reverse side of the fabric, as required, thereby creating a different aesthetic and tactile sensation. This type of decoration material is very suitable, for example, for the manufacture of lampshades.

In this simplest example, a paper-based material with a decoration on one side can also be used as the base support layer. For example, a photo, wallpaper, or napkin can be used. However, when using this type of backing layer, most often the case is where the plastic laminate foil is located on the decor side and the opposite side of the backing sheet is provided with a self-adhesive white contrasting foil, such as vinyl foil. In particular, the film increases the contrast and brightness of the color decor. This type of decoration material is very suitable, for example, for the production of place mats and mats for household use.

In another embodiment, the material is formed in the same manner as in the previous example, with the self-adhesive white contrasting film being a double-sided adhesive film and further provided with an additional layer of thermally non-conductive material, such as cork or foam. This embodiment is particularly advantageous for the production of pads for pots or bowls with a very warm content. It can also be used for various decorative cladding boards, such as table tops and the like.

In all cases, it is a very simple technology for manufacturing said decorative material, which is also suitable for processing without the need for any expensive machinery. The lamination itself to the base support layer can be carried out at temperatures around 120 ° C and thus a commercially available iron can be used. A very simple and attractive acquisition of this material is, for example, the use of commercially available three-layer napkins having a very nice decor. In this case, the process of manufacturing the decorative material is as follows. First, the bottom white layer of paper is removed. The napkin is then straightened with ironing. A plastic laminating foil is applied by ironing on the decor side of the base support layer thus prepared. In this treatment, the second, i.e., middle, layer of the original napkin, which is again white paper, is released spontaneously and is removed. The two-layer plastic laminate foil / base support layer in the form of a single layer of the original napkin with a decor is now glued with a one-sided adhesive white contrasting film or a two-sided adhesive white contrasting film to which another layer of choice is adhered.

The final shapes of the individual products are then produced from the decorative material produced by any of the above methods, for example by cutting or shearing according to the desired shapes. When using a material that has yet another, such as a cork layer, because of the risk of cork breakage when cutting or shearing, the process is generally applied such that the additional layer is already applied in the desired shape and the remaining three-layer material adapts to this shape .

Industrial applicability

Said material can be used for the production of various decorative or utility items in the home or workplace. Various interesting combinations of these articles can be made such that, for example, the mats and the placemats match the lamp shades or wall cladding and the like. The advantage is the possibility of arbitrary choice of decor and arbitrary assembly of these items.
