Dosud známá polohovací lehátka, užívaná zejména u zahradního a kempinkového nábytku, umožňují polohování hlavy, popřípadě části zad, a to většinou potahováním části dolního rámu. Takové potahování zatěžuje a namáhá krční, případně zádovou část páteře. V oblasti interiérového nábytku polohovací lehátka chybí zcela, a ve většině případů je v bytovém interiéru jediným druhem relaxačního nábytku pohovka - gauč, jejíž užívání má zničující účinek na páteř. Dále jsou známy lamelové postelové rošty s plynulým elektrickým nebo mechanickým potahováním nožní a krční části, avšak tyto rošty lze použít prakticky výhradně pro pevné rámové postele určené víceméně pro spánek, a jen těžko je lze uplatnit jako nábytek pro relaxaci a odpočinek např. v zahradě. Polohovací lehátko sestává z dolního pevného rámu opatřeného nohami, a z horního děleného rámu.
