Abstract
La invención se refiere a métodos para la recuperación de níquel y cobalto a partir de una mena magra de níquel que contienen hierro. Las menas magras son menas que no son económicas de tratar. El método utiliza niveles de ácido relativamente bajos ("privación de ácido") durante períodos de tiempo prolongados para lixiviar níquel y cobalto, proporcionando niveles relativamente altos de extracción de níquel y cobalto, en conjunción con niveles relativamente bajos de extracción de hierro. El método de la invención permite una extracción aceptable de níquel y cobalto sin incurrir en un consumo de ácido innecesariamente grande.
