Data processing reliability is increased by the introduction of a service signals selector, zone group marker decoder, data encoder, two triggers, two OR-gates and five AND-gates. Data from the peripheral device passes to input (24) as a predetermined periodic series of codes of variable length, commutator (2) enabling and matching. Data then passes to register (4) while accompaniment signals pass to selector (3) to detect synchronising pulses from pulse noise. If data is applied with an initial Hamming redundant coding, this can be entered on a magnetic tape or binary decoding can be carried out to correct errors.
