Abstract
Higher quality catalyst for dehydrogenation of 3-5C paraffins is prepd. as follows. The alumina support is precalcined at 1000-1150 deg. and impregnated with solns. of Cr and K cpds. Drying is followed by impregnation with a Si cpd. chosen from the group contg. alkyl(aryl) silanes, alkyl(aryl) ethoxysilanes, alkyl(aryl) halosilanes and ethoxyhalosilane. Subsequent drying in N2 up to 550 deg. and calcining in air for 1 hour at 700 deg. completes the prepn.
