Abstract

Yeast cells in suspension are continuously broken up in a spindle mill by micro-glass spheroids, the invertase- containing solution thereby obtained is deslurryed to provide a clear fiitrate by use of a sheet filter, whereafter the clear solution is passed to a combined ultra- and microfiltration plant in such a manner that the solution first runs through an ultrafiltration separation unit, and thereafter is passed over a microfiltration unit. The invertase concentrate solution so obtained is stabilised, e.g. by the addition of glycerol, standardised and packed in known manner. <IMAGE>
