Description
The invention relates to a method of measuring radon emanation of solid materials, it is formed linikem radon from the surface of Orc.
Conventional methods for measuring radon emanation, using iontometric and scintillation chambers or liquid scintillators, only allow the measurement of powdered materials or liquid samples. To measure the radon emanation of larger areas, an instrument-intensive gamma spectrometric method is used, in which the resulting radon is adsorbed on activated carbon in a vessel mounted on the surface of the sample /e.g. wall, block or subsoil. The described method of measuring radon emanation of solids is necessary to control the quality of production of light building materials.
The measurement method according to the invention solves this problem. The essence of this method lies in the fact that a large-volume sample of the building component is placed in a protective recipient, which is hermetically sealed. After a period of time, at least 5 days, a known volume of air filling the space between the sample and the package is taken and the activity of the radon 222 present is measured by one of the above methods. The mass or area emanation of radon is calculated using the necessary mathematical apparatus, including overnight stays for the radioactive conversion of radon and its daughter products during emanation, standing before measurement and measurement. From the knowledge of the specific activity of radium 226 in the sample, the radon emanation coefficient of matter can be determined.
The new effect of the invention is that it is possible to measure the radon emanation of a sample in a large volume block without having to crush it, since the crushed material has different emanation properties than a solid piece of material. Knowledge of area and mass radon emanation resp. radon emanation coefficient is essential to assess the suitability of the building component for use in construction or to decide on its disposal.
příklad provádění způsobu měření radonové emanace tuhé hmoty možno popsat na vzorku pórobetonu. An example of carrying out the method of measuring the radon emanation of a solid can be described on a sample of aerated concrete.
The sample of light building material-porn concrete is cut to dimensions 18x18x40 cm. The method further uses a protective recipient with a volume greater than 30 liters. This successfully consists of a sheet metal barrel with an inner polyethylene insert, a tripod 10 cm high and a lid with a rubber seal. A rubber piercing stopper used to close infusion bottles is built into the lid. An injection needle passes through the stopper, which continues inside through a silicone tube to the bottom, and is closed from the outside by injection into the rubber. Before use, the recipient is opened and purged several times with compressed air. The weighed block of sample is then placed in it and the lid is hermetically sealed. At the same time, the end time of the entire operation is registered. After more than J days to establish a fermentable state in the recipient's air, a known volume of air is aspirated from the recipient, in which the activity of radon 222 and its daughter products is measured, e.g., by glass scintillation chambers in a light-tight housing and a conventional pulse counter or single channel analyzer. Checking the accuracy of the measurement can be performed by repeating the measurement several times by re-sucking air from the recipient, without the recipient having to open and insert a new piece of the same material. It uses the dilution coefficient for the calculation.
