Je známe polohovanie světlometu vo vertikálnom smere pomocou posuvnej skrutky a pružiny najčastejšie v spodnej časti světlometu. Ďalší spůsob spočívá v přestavení optickej paraboly světlometu skrutkou s ozdobnou hlavou na vrchnej časti rámika světlometu, pričom je skrutka spojená s parabolou a posuvná v drážke rámika. V nastavenej polohe sa skrutka pritiahne, čim fixuje optické parabolu v nastavenej polohe. Podobný je aj spůsob prestavenia optiokej paraboly světlometu pomocou skrutiek, najčastejšie dvoch, umiestnených na prednej, čelnej ploché rámika světlometu. Uvedené reišenia neumožňujú polohovanie světlometu z miesta vodiča, vyžadujú si dlhšiu manipuláciu, sú nepřesné a ich správné nastavenie je možné iba vo výrobnom závode, kde sa světelný lúč zameria na presnú vzdialenosť do stanoveného bodu na skúšobnom zariadení. Pri demontáži světlometu a opátovnej montáži je správné nastavenie světlometu podmienené odbornými vedomosťami uživatela.
