Abstract
Activating activated carbon wood sawdust is used chloride solution zinc which, after the dissolution of the \ t The reaction reaction is cemented with zinc dust.
Description
Vynález se týká aktivních uhlí vyráběných aktivací dřevěných pilin roztokem chloridu zinečnatého.The invention relates to activated carbon produced by activating wood sawdust with a zinc chloride solution.
At elevated temperatures, zinc chloride acts on the organic matter of wood sawdust by decomposing it to form a carbonaceous material with a richly developed porous structure and a large inner surface called activated carbon.
Zinc chloride, as an activating agent, is used in the form of an impregnating solution for impregnating sawdust. It is prepared by dissolving zinc wastes in concentrated hydrochloric acid followed by concentration in evaporation boilers. However, zinc waste contains a number of other metals (eg Fe, Cd, Cu, Pb) which, despite further interventions in the process, such as extraction, grinding, washing, etc., are not removed from the products. Since activated carbon is also used in the food industry, the presence of these metals, especially lead, is particularly undesirable.
Said qualitative deficiency, limiting and extending the use of activated carbon, is eliminated by the invention which consists in the prior precipitation of lead by zinc cementation from zinc chloride solutions. After cementation, the solution is filtered. Thus deprived of heavy metals, mainly lead, is used to actually activate wood sawdust for activated carbon.
Zinc waste is gradually introduced into the present amount (7 m 3 ) of concentrated 30-33% hydrochloric acid with stirring. After reaching a specific gravity of approx. 1,500 kg.m 3 and acidification, the resulting layer of mechanical impurities is removed from the surface. The required amount of zinc dust is then added to the vat. The amount is determined by a stoichiometric ratio based on analyzes of zinc chloride solutions according to the quality of the zinc waste being treated.
After stirring for 2 hours and settling for 4 hours, the solution is freed from the cement sludge by filtration. The wood sawdust is then activated.
