Nakolko retorty sú prechodom redukčnou pečou a následným ochladzovaním tepelne velmi namáhané, bývajú už po niekolkých prechodoch redukčnou pečou popraskané, pri vysýpaní rozrušené a vyřaděné z prevádzky, čo při vysokých cenách keramických retort sposobuje velké ekonomické straty.
