V praxi sa používá ako dezinfekčný alebo sanitárny čistiaci prostriedok, tiež pre ďalšie použitie ako protislizový prípravok vo vodných cirkulačných okruhoch, aj ako prípravok pre antimikrobiálnu úpravu textilných vláken. Ako dezinfekčný prostriedok sa používá v kon centráciách 1 až 5 g/1 vody.
