BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Field of the Invention The present invention relates to an apparatus for protecting a starter of an internal combustion engine by means of a circuit breaker which ensures the starting of the engine.

Existing devices for starting an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle are generally provided with a simple starter switch located on the instrument panel. Devices with starter closing directly by turning the key in the ignition switch are also extended.

The disadvantage of these embodiments is the possibility of starting the engine with the gear engaged and causing the vehicle to move undesired. This possibility may be particularly detrimental to agricultural tractors where the tractor can be moved in this way without the driver sitting in his seat.

This disadvantage is overcome by a device for protecting the starter of an internal combustion engine by means of a circuit breaker integrated into the electric circuit of the starter. The subject of the invention is a circuit breaker fastened by a bracket and a fastening screw to a fixed part of a motor vehicle, for example a gearbox. The circuit breaker is connected to the clutch pedal by means of a rod and a flat spring located opposite the button of the circuit breaker. The circuit breaker is rotatably mounted with the bracket around the mounting screw.

By placing the circuit breaker in the clutch control circuit, the driver must depress the clutch pedal when the engine is started to close the electric circuit. This prevents unintended movement of the vehicle with the gear engaged when starting the engine, thus increasing the safety of operation. A further advantage of the device according to the invention is the simple design of the entire device with the possibility of retrofitting and the possibility of simple adjustment to the functional position with respect to the length of the connecting rod given by manufacturing tolerances. This is done by simply rotating the circuit breaker bracket around the mounting screw.

The starter protection device according to the invention is shown schematically in the attached drawing.

The circuit breaker 4k is fixed by means of bracket 2 and the fastening screw 1 to the gearbox housing 10. By means of the wires 6, the circuit breaker 4 is inserted into the electric circuit of the trigger between the start button 7 and the switch box 9. The end of this flat spring arm 3 is connected by means of a rod 5 to the clutch pedal 8. The length of the rod 5 is adjusted by pivoting the bracket 2 of the circuit breaker 4 around the fastening screw 1.

When the clutch pedal 8 is depressed, the rod 5 is moved and the flat spring 3 depresses the switch 11 of the circuit breaker 4, thereby closing the electrical circuit of the trigger. Pressing the start button 7 »activates the starter that starts the engine.

The starter protection device according to the invention is particularly suitable for agricultural tractors to increase operational safety.
