Abstract

El invento provee métodos para acrecentar la tasa de asimilación de CO2 en células y plantas fotosintéticas. El invento comprende reducir o evitar el reciclado de lípidos y/o expresar oleosinas modificadas con residuos de cisteína introducidos artificialmente en las células y plantas fotosintéticas. El invento provee también métodos para acrecentar producción de aceite en plantas, mediante la expresión de oleosinas modificadas con residuos de cisteína introducidos artificialmente en los tejidos/órganos no fotosintéticos de las plantas. El método incluye también opcionalmente el paso de extraer el aceite de los tejidos/órganos no fotosintéticos de la planta, o procesar los tejidos/órganos no fotosintéticos ricos en aceite para formar alimentos para animales o materia prima de biocombustibles.The invention provides methods to increase the rate of CO2 assimilation in photosynthetic cells and plants.
