Abstract

The present invention in one of its illustrated embodiments discloses a trap for attracting hematophagous insects and catching them alive, which consists of a cabin that houses a bait animal to attract them, a receptacle or artificial shelter as a temporary shelter to retain insects, which contains a folding with holes (whose geometries may vary, but which in some preferred embodiments may be circular, square, rectangular, or rhomboid), The foregoing may be complemented with an adhesive material, such as adhesive tape placed around the cabin. This trap can be placed in different places inside or near the natural habitats of insects. The effectiveness of the present inevitability to collect live triatomine insects allows their subsequent colonization in the laboratory, for the study of the biology, genetics, systematics and behavior of insects. It also allows and facilitates the study of the epidemiology of communicable diseases through insect vectors, and as a tool for surveillance and control of diseases, such as Chagas disease.
