Abstract
El dispositivo de oclusión vascular de doble cono de la presente invención consiste en una doble espiral, una de las espirales en forma de doble cono y la otra preferiblemente con fibras de poliéster a lo largo de su longitud, en donde el diámetro menor de la espiral de doble cono está en el centro del dispositivo (Figura 1) para permitir la formación de un trombo e impedir el paso del flujo sanguíneo a través del DAP una vez implantado el dispositivo.El dispositivo es preferiblemente fabricado con nitinol, una aleación de níquel y titanio de amplio uso en la industria médica. El nitinol es comúnmente conocido como el material de ingeniería en la industria médica gracias a sus propiedades elásticas y de memoria de forma, que permiten que los dispositivos elaborados con este material puedan llevarse a sitios anatómicos remotos a través de catéteres u otros sistemas de introducción.Las diferencias principales con los dispositivos anteriores son, en primer lugar, que la presente invención es una sola pieza de doble cono elaborada de nitinol; en segundo lugar, que se pueden adicionar fibras de poliéster entre los anillos de una de sus espirales. Las fibras de poliéster cumplen la misma función del balón de látex del DBC de generar el trombo e impedir el paso del flujo sanguíneo a través del DAP.El dispositivo de doble cono (DCN) de la presente invención ocluye completamente el DAP sin dejar corto circuito residual y ayuda a la epitelización de los extremos del Ductus. Hasta el momento no se han reportado datos de hemólisis producida con dispositivos fabricados con nitinol.
