A process for producing refrigeration using such azeotropic or azeotropic compositions is also described. A process for using such azeotropic or azeotrope-like compositions as solvents is also described. A process for producing an aerosol product using azeotropic or azeotrope-like compositions is also described. A process for using such azeotropic or azeotropic compositions as heat transfer media is also described. A process for extinguishing or eliminating fire using such azeotropic or azeotropic compositions is also described. A process for using such azeotropic or azeotropic compositions as dielectrics is also described. 1.- A composition consisting essentially of: (a) E-1,1,1,4,4,4-hexafluoro-2-butene; and (b) methyl formate; characterized in that the methyl formate is present in an amount effective to form a combination similar to an azeotrope with E-1,1,1,4,4,4-hexafluoro-2-butene. 2.- A composition consisting essentially of: (a) E-1,1,1,4,4,4-hexafluoro-2-butene; and n-pentane; characterized in that n-pentane is present in an amount effective to form an azeotropic combination with E1,1,1,4,4,4-hexafluoro-2-butene.
