La unidad móvil de diagnóstico para teleconsultas especializadas es un equipo biomédico orientado a la prestación de servicios de salud, bajo la modalidad de Telemedicina, consiste en la adquisición de señales biológicas, especialmente electrocardiográficas, pulso, presión arterial no invasiva, temperatura, sonidos cardiacos y respiratorios e imágenes radiológicas; adquiridas en forma análoga a partir de circuitos electrónicos que procesan y digitalizan los datos con el fin de enviarlos a un computador personal (PC) para su visualización, almacenamiento y transferencia de archivos empleando Internet a un servidor como punto de referencia, donde médicos especialistas reciben, descargan y analizan la información, con el fin de proporcionar un diagnostico remoto inmediato. El equipo permite ampliar movilidad, registro digital de las señales del paciente, conectividad a Internet y autonomía de funcionamiento. Además, facilita la articulación, modernización y socialización de los procesos asistenciales y administrativos del sistema de salud, mediante la integración de los sistemas de comunicación e información.
