Abstract
La presente divulgación se refiere a un aparato para engrosar un tubo en su porción intermedia a lo largo de una superficie interior. The apparatus includes a first support member for supporting the outer surface of the tube and a mandrel assembly for supporting the inner surface of the tube, wherein the mandrel assembly is supported by a second support member. The mandrel assembly may be defined with a profile that corresponds to the profile of the intermediate section to be thickened. Additionally, the apparatus includes a punch configured to contact one end of the tube and exert an axial force on the tube to plastically deform the tube to thicken it in its intermediate portion. The device facilitates gradual thickening by inducing only the necessary localization of the material. Furthermore, the device helps to easily and quickly remove the thickened tube, which reduces cycle time and therefore improves productivity. Figure. 1 is a representative figure.
