Abstract
Se describe un método para producir vidrio flint usando fusión por combustión sumergida. El método incluye hacer funcionar un fundidor de combustión sumergida (10) de modo que los productos de combustión (68) se descarguen de uno o más quemadores sumergidos (62) que queman una mezcla de gases combustibles (G) que comprende combustible y oxígeno. La relación oxígeno-combustible de la mezcla de gases combustibles oscila entre la estequiometría y el 30 % en exceso de oxígeno en relación con la estequiometría, la temperatura de la masa fundida de vidrio (22) en el fundidor de combustión sumergida está entre 1200 °C y 1500 °C, el tiempo de residencia de la masa fundida de vidrio es mantenido entre 1 hora y 10 horas, y una tasa de producción específica de la masa fundida de vidrio (36) descargada del fundidor de combustión sumergida oscila entre 1814,4 kg (2 toneladas) por día por metro cuadrado de área de sección transversal del fundidor de combustión sumergida [toneladas/día/m2] a 22679,6 kg/día/m2 (25 toneladas/día/m2).
