Cross Reference to Related Applications
The application relates to a temporary application in the United states filed on 21 days 6 and 6 of 2023, which is numbered: 63/353,971, and claims priority thereto, the entire contents of which are incorporated by reference.
Technical Field
The present utility model relates to folding boxes, optionally constructed from paperboard, and more particularly to an improved one-piece box, including a flap that forms a tab that fits into a slot through a front panel of the storage bin to facilitate repeated opening and closing without damaging the box.
Background
Referring to fig. 1, a one-piece cardboard box has been developed for storing, selling and transporting various products including shoes. A typical one-piece paperboard shoe box includes a folding cover having a flap and a folding end cap. The end cap is folded into a side pocket formed by the folded side panels of the storage case to close the shoe box. This conventional arrangement results in a setting that leaves a straw rate between each use and is difficult to reclose before final shipment. In addition, conventional end caps are difficult to arrange into access to the side slots, which slows down product handling and inevitably results in damage and bending of certain parts of the box prior to final sale to the end purchaser. This can lead to the delivery of spent boxes or new products in damaged boxes, thereby compromising the appearance of the package and the impression to the customer. Thus, there is a need for an improved box to reduce the likelihood of damage before final sale, a pleasant pre-sale shutdown and the resulting loss of material.
Disclosure of utility model
The proposed utility model solves at least one of the above problems by an improved one-piece box system in which the cover flap forms a catch which is removably received into the slot through the front panel of the box locker. The tongue and groove allow multiple users (e.g., manufacturers, physical merchants, and e-commerce dealers) to conveniently open and close the shoe box multiple times without damaging the box. The bottom surface of the cover sheet carries one or more double-sided adhesive strips for taping the box for final shipping or on-the-fly product sales. The protective film covers the strip of tape until the user is ready to remove the protective film to seal the shoe box with the tape. The innovative design eliminates the problematic end caps that transfer the flaps of the unitary cardboard shoe box, and the resulting material loss, thereby contributing to sustainability.
According to an alternative aspect of the utility model there is provided a one-piece paperboard carton comprising: a storage case comprising a front panel, a cover, the storage case being connected, comprising a cover sheet defining a bottom surface and a tab, double-sided tape attached to the bottom surface of the cover sheet, a slot through the front panel of the storage case for detachably receiving the tab for repeatedly closing the case without tape closing the case, the double-sided tape carrying a protective film allowing the tab to be detachably inserted into the slot without adhering the cover sheet to the front panel of the storage case, and wherein the protective film is detachable from the double-sided tape for attaching the cover sheet to the front panel of the storage case to cause the tape to close the case.
According to another alternative aspect of the utility model, there is provided a one-piece paperboard carton comprising: a storage case comprising a front panel, a cover attached to the storage case, an adhesive on the case for adhering the case to close, a detachable joint for detachably attaching the cover to the storage case without using the adhesive to adhere the case to close, a protective film carried by the adhesive to allow the detachable joint to be repeatedly fixed to the storage case without using the adhesive to adhere the case to close, and wherein the protective film is removable from the adhesive for adhering the cover sheet to the storage case to fix the case to close.
According to another alternative aspect of the present utility model, a one-piece paperboard carton is provided wherein the storage compartment and lid are formed from a single piece of material that is foldable from a planar configuration to form the storage compartment and lid.

Detailed Description
The utility model may be embodied in an improved one-piece shipping box that includes a cover with a flap that forms a tab that fits into a slot through a front panel of the storage bin, which facilitates repeated opening and closing without damaging the shipping box. The tabs and slots allow multiple users (e.g., manufacturers, physical merchants, and e-commerce dealers) to conveniently open and close the shipping box multiple times without damaging the box. The underside of the cover sheet carries a double-sided tape strip for taping the box for final shipping or on-the-fly product sales. The protective film covers the tape strip until the user is ready to remove the protective film and seal the shipping box. The innovative design eliminates problematic end caps on the cover flaps of the transfer unitary cardboard shipping box.
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a conventional one-piece paperboard shoe box 10 that includes a folding cover 11 with a flap 12 that includes end caps 13a and 13b that fit into side pockets 14a and 14b formed by the side panels of a storage bin 15. To close the shoe box, the user turns the lid 11 over the bin 15 and maneuvers the end caps 13a and 13b into the respective side pockets 14a and 14b. Some find it difficult to access the end caps 13a and 13b to the respective side pockets 14a and 14b, which slows down the product handling rate. Since there are often multiple people opening and closing the shoe box at various points during manufacturing, logistics, display, assembly and sales, the problematic end caps inevitably cause damage to certain parts of the box before the product is finally shipped or sold on the fly. This can lead to delivery of waste cartons or new products in slightly damaged shoe boxes, thereby compromising the appearance of the package and the commercial impression of the final purchaser.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view showing a new proposed shipping box 20, including a lid 21 with a cover 22, illustrating the distinction between the modified shoe box and the conventional one-piece shoe box 10. In case 20, the manufacturer removes end caps 23a and 23b and corners 24a and 24b of cover sheet 12 of conventional shoe case 10 to create modified cover sheet 22 of shipping case 20. The manufacturer also cuts a slot 26 in the front panel 27 of the locker 28. These modifications form a tab 25 on the flap 22 that can be easily inserted into the slot 26 and removed from the slot 26 to open and close the shipping box 20 multiple times without damaging the flap. Unlike the conventional shoe box 10, even the most careless or hurry product handlers can easily open and close the shipping box 20 without damaging the box and without dislocating, thereby forming a neat appearance.
The bottom surface of the cover sheet 21 is provided with double-sided adhesive tapes 29a and 29b (i.e., adhesive tapes with adhesive on both sides). The exposed sides of these strips remain covered by the protective film until the user is ready to seal the shipping carton 20, which is typically used for shipping or purchase delivery to the end purchaser. At this time, the user removes the protective film from the tapes 29a and 29b, turns over the cover 22 on the storage box 28, and fixes the tapes on the front panel 27 of the storage box. The transport case 20 may be inserted into the slot 26 with the tab 25 or not inserted into the slot 26 as desired and closed with tape. Any suitable number, size, and location of double-sided tape may be used as a matter of design choice. For example, a single, wider strip of tape can be used that occupies a substantial area of the bottom surface of the cover sheet, if desired. As another example, three or four shorter strips may be used transverse to the depicted strips 29a and 29b, if desired.
Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the shipping container 20 with the lid 21 in an open position, showing the interior of the locker 28. Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the shipping container 20 in the closed position with the lid 21 secured to the locker 28. Fig. 5 shows a single unfolded blank 50 folded over to create features of the shipping box 20 that identify the tabs 25 and slots 26 of an embodiment of the present utility model. In this particular embodiment, the catch 25 has a tapered angle that forms a generally trapezoidal shape. It will be appreciated that the tab may have any other shape that is adapted to be easily inserted and removed from the slot through the front panel of the transport case. For example, FIGS. 6A-6D are conceptual illustrations of alternative flaps forming differently shaped tabs.
It is noted that while the functional aspects of the present utility model are shown, the same slot and tab concepts may be practiced in a variety of shapes, sizes and dimensions without departing from the scope and spirit of the present utility model. For example, the front slot 26 may be non-linear (convex or concave in an arc and still function as intended.) similarly, the flap 22 may be provided in alternative shapes (single piece, split piece, smoothly curved and angular edges, etc.) (e.g., as shown in fig. 6A-6D or in any other shape or form sufficient to accomplish the present function.) similarly, the box may have alternative dimensions (long/small, high/long, flat/wide, etc.), so that the functions herein may be accomplished in different shapes.
While specific embodiments of the disclosure have been described, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that various modifications and implementations can be made to the disclosure without departing from the scope and spirit of the disclosure. It will thus be appreciated that the present utility model provides a significant improvement. The foregoing relates only to exemplary embodiments of the present utility model and numerous changes may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the utility model as defined by the following claims.
