9. The multifunctional hair retaining clip of claim 1, wherein said engagement portion is a peg extending along an axis of said hinge pin, said decorative member being adapted to fit over said peg.

10. The multifunctional hair clip of claim 2 or 9, wherein said ornamental member comprises a rod-shaped portion fitted to said engagement portion.
