A self-cleaning sealed conveyor as claimed in claim 2 wherein said belt drive member (220) is provided with a controller and an electrical protection device, said controller and electrical protection device being electrically connected, said controller being adapted to control the operating condition of the apparatus, said electrical protection device automatically disconnecting the power supply when the supply voltage exceeds the rated voltage of the apparatus to prevent damage to the apparatus and circuitry.
