Technical Field
The present invention relates to a protection device, and more particularly, to a protection device for a sensor and a pipe connector.
Background
Various sensors and line connectors are included in the lubrication system of large gear boxes, such as wind power gear boxes. In some gearbox arrangements, at least a portion of the various sensors and line connectors (such as the sensor designated by reference numeral 1) described above are disposed outside of the gearbox housing 100 (see FIG. 1), and such sensors and line connectors are susceptible to damage from impact during transportation or during installation or maintenance. Moreover, since the sensors and the line connectors provided at the lower portion of the gear box housing are installed at relatively low positions, they are easily mistakenly stepped on by a gear box maintenance worker as a stepping platform for observing the upper portion of the large gear box, thereby causing damage to the sensors and the line connectors.
Thus, to protect the sensors and line connectors exposed outside the housing, in some gearbox designs, a simple protective cover 2 is used to shield the sensors and line connectors (see FIG. 2). The protective cover 2 has an L-shaped body perpendicular to the ground that covers both sides of the sensor or line connector, and provides some protection, for example, when the gearbox is inadvertently bumped during transport. However, since such a simple protective cover covers only a portion of the sensor and the pipe connector exposing the gear housing case and thus has a short length, the protective cover together with the sensor and the pipe connector may be damaged when a maintenance worker steps by mistake.
