Fig. 3A, 3B, 4A, and 4B show a connector 100 constituting one of the first embodiment of the connector assembly of the present invention, and the connector 100 is composed of a first terminal 41, a second terminal 42, a ground terminal 40, a housing 50, and an insulator 60. The ground terminal 40 is in this example formed integrally with the housing 50 that forms the outline of the connector 100. Fig. 5 shows details of the ground terminal 40 and the housing 50 which are integrally formed, and fig. 6 shows the insulator 60 and the first terminal 41 and the second terminal 42 which are held by the insulator 60.
The insulator 60 is made of resin and is formed in a substantially rectangular parallelepiped shape as a whole. The first terminals 41 are attached to both ends of the insulator 60 in the longitudinal direction, and the second terminals 42 are attached to the center of the insulator 60 in two rows, two for each row, and four in total.

As described above, the housing 50 in which the ground terminal 40 is integrally formed is attached to the insulator 60 that holds the first terminal 41 and the second terminal 42. Fig. 7A, 7B, 8A, and 8B show a mating-side connector 200, and the mating-side connector 200 is configured by a mating-side first terminal 71 and a mating-side second terminal 72 that form a mating-side signal terminal, a mating-side ground terminal 70, a mating-side housing 80, and a mating-side insulator 90. Fig. 9 shows details of the mating side housing 80, and fig. 10 shows a state where the mating side housing 80 is removed from the mating side connector 200.
The mating-side insulator 90 is made of resin and includes: a bottom plate 91, and side walls 92 provided at four corners of the bottom plate 91. The first terminals 71 on the mating side are attached to both ends of the bottom plate 91 in the longitudinal direction, and the second terminals 72 on the mating side are formed in two rows, two for each row, and four in total in the center of the bottom plate 91. Further, between each of the two mating side first terminals 71 and the four mating side second terminals 72, a mating side ground terminal 70 is mounted.
The mating-side first terminal 71 is formed in a columnar shape and has a connecting portion 71a at a lower end thereof for connection to the substrate. The mating-side second terminal 72 is formed in a plate shape and has a connection portion 72a at a lower end thereof for connection to a substrate. Two mating side first terminals 71 are for high frequency signals and four mating side second terminals 72 are for low frequency signals.
As shown in fig. 8B, the mating-side ground terminal 70 has a mating-side plate portion 73 at the center in the extending direction, and the mating-side plate portion 73 is formed in a shape having a pair of protruding portions 75 that form a recess 74 that opens upward between each other. The pair of projections 75 project from the bottom plate 91 of the mating insulator 90. In the mating side plate portion 73, a connecting portion 76 connecting the lower ends of the pair of projections 75 is exposed on the bottom surface side of the mating side insulator 90. The convex portions 81a and 82a provided in the mating-side housing 80 fit over the curved portions 52a and 53a of the housing 50, and thereby the mating-side housing 80 is fitted inside the housing 50.

In this way, when the thickness of the plate portion 44 is different from the thickness of the mating side plate portion 73, the gap between the plate portion 44 and the mating side plate portion 73 and the gap between the コ -shaped leg portions 43a located in the recessed portion 74 are smaller than the thickness of either the plate portion 44 or the mating side plate portion 73.

In the first embodiment, the shield portion of the ground terminal 40 between the first terminal 41 and the second terminal 42 of the connector 100 is the plate portion 44 formed by the pair of コ -shaped portions 43, and the mating side shield portion of the mating side ground terminal 70 between the mating side first terminal 71 and the mating side second terminal 72 of the mating side connector 200 is the mating side plate portion 73 formed in a shape having the pair of protruding portions 75 forming the recess 74 therebetween, but the shield portion may have another configuration.
In the connector and the mating side connector as described above, the shield portions of the ground terminal and the mating side ground terminal are configured differently, and fig. 12A and 12B show the connector 100 ' of the second embodiment, and fig. 13 shows the ground terminal 40 ' integrated with the housing 50 of the connector 100 '. Fig. 14A, 14B, 15A, and 15B show the mating connector 200 ', and fig. 16A and 16B show the state after the connector 100 ' is fitted to the mating connector 200 '. In this example, as shown in fig. 15B, the mating-side shield portion of the mating-side ground terminal 70 'is formed by a flat plate portion 78 formed in a substantially rectangular shape, and the mating-side ground terminal 70' is formed by the flat plate portion 78 and extension portions 77 extending from both lower ends of the flat plate portion 78. The flat plate portion 78 projects from the bottom plate portion 91 of the mating insulator 90 and is positioned between the mating first terminal 71 and the mating second terminal 72, and the lower edge of the flat plate portion 78 and the extension portion 77 are positioned on the bottom surface side of the mating insulator 90 and are exposed.
On the other hand, as shown in fig. 13, the shield portion formed by the ground terminal 40' is formed by a pair of コ -shaped portions 48 adjacent to each other. The mutually adjacent コ -shaped leg portions of the pair of コ -shaped portions 48 form a contact portion 49 that elastically displaces in the contact direction perpendicular to the plate surface 48a of the コ -shaped portion 48, and the contact portion 49 has a shape curved く. The ground terminal 40' is integrally formed with the housing 50, and the leg portions 48b of the pair of コ -shaped portions 48 located on the outer sides extend from the extension portion 54 of the housing 50, respectively, as in the ground terminal 40 of the first embodiment.
The pair of コ -shaped portions 48 of the two ground terminals 40' are inserted into the slits 62 of the insulator 60 and are located between the first terminal 41 and the second terminal 42, respectively.
In the connector assembly in which the connector 100 'is fitted to and connected to the mating connector 200', in this example, as shown in fig. 16B, the contact portion 49 elastically displaceable in the contact direction perpendicular to the fitting direction is elastically contacted to the plate surface 78a of the flat plate portion 78 having a plate surface (mating side plate surface) parallel to the fitting direction, and the contact direction is perpendicular to the plate surface 78 a. Thus, the pair of コ -shaped portions 48 forming the shield portion of the ground terminal 40 'and the flat plate portion 78 forming the mating side shield portion of the mating side ground terminal 70' are electrically connected to each other and combined, and a shield for electromagnetic interference between the shield terminals similar to the first embodiment is formed between the first terminal 41 and the mating side first terminal 71 and between the second terminal 42 and the mating side second terminal 72.
In the above, the embodiments of the present invention have been described, and in the present invention, in one of the connectors constituting the connector assembly, the ground terminal that is elastically deformed is integrally formed in the extension portion of the housing, and the press-in portion provided in the extension portion is press-fitted into the press-in portion of the insulator, whereby the housing is attached to the insulator and the ground terminal is arranged at a desired position in the insulator.
As for the mounting of the housing on the insulator, as used in the connector 10 and the mating connector 20 of patent document 1, the housing is usually mounted on the insulator by insert molding (integral molding), and thus, the ground terminal disposed in the insulator is integrally formed in the housing mounted on the insulator by integral molding, and in order to prevent resin from entering a portion of the ground terminal that is elastically deformed due to the elastic deformation of the ground terminal, the portion must be closed by a mold. In addition, since the sealing is performed by the mold, a space for accommodating the mold is required in the insulator, and the presence of the space causes problems such as a problem of preventing the insulator (connector) from being downsized and an unstable elastic deformation of the ground terminal.
In this regard, in the present invention, the housing integrally formed with the ground terminal is press-fitted to the insulator, so that such a problem does not occur.

Claims (2)

1. A connector assembly formed by fitting a connector having an insulator, a signal terminal and a ground terminal arranged on the insulator, and a conductive housing, to a mating side connector having a mating side insulator, a mating side signal terminal and a mating side ground terminal arranged on the mating side insulator and connected to the signal terminal and the ground terminal, respectively, and a conductive mating side housing,
the housing has: a frame-shaped portion constituting the outline of the connector, and an extension portion extending from the frame-shaped portion into the frame,
the ground terminal is formed integrally with the extension portion and is elastically deformable,
the extension portion has a press-fitting portion, and the insulator is fixed and held to the housing by press-fitting the press-fitting portion into a press-fitted portion of the insulator.
2. The connector assembly of claim 1,
the signal terminals include first terminals and second terminals, the mating side signal terminals include mating side first terminals and mating side second terminals,
the ground terminal of interconnect with the supporting side ground terminal will interconnect the first terminal and the first terminal of supporting side with interconnect the second terminal and the electromagnetic shield between the second terminal of supporting side.
