Description

Blank cartridge firing accessory for machine gun
Technical Field
The present invention relates to blank cartridge launching attachments for machine guns and, more particularly, to a machine gun structure for attaching blank cartridge launching attachments (i.e., for launching blank cartridges) to a machine gun for brownin M2. It will be apparent to those skilled in the art that the accessory may also be used with other guns having similar designs to the barrel and barrel support of the brownin M2 gun.
Background
With live ammunition, the recharging of the brownin M2 gun is based on the energy released by the bullet acceleration, i.e., recoil. When a blank bullet is fired, no bullet mass is present and the combustion gases are expelled from the barrel without resistance and substantially without recoil. Thus, automatic gun reloading does not occur. The purpose of the blank cartridge launching accessory is to utilize the exhaust combustion gases and provide the necessary recoil for automatic refill by backpressure.
US patent 4128040 (published 5/12 1978) describes an empty-pack projectile launching attachment for machine gun brirons M2 (recoil booster). The attachment is secured to the machine gun by a U-shaped member which in use is positioned in front of a magazine strip containing empty cartridges below a magazine lid. The U-shaped piece prevents loading of the loaded magazine belt into the machine gun due to the fact that it is placed in the area where the cartridge at the end of the magazine should be placed in the loaded machine gun. To install or remove the accessory from the gun, the magazine lid is opened and the magazine belt is removed. Furthermore, installing or removing the blank ammunition firing accessory requires that the muzzle restrictor at the end of the accessory be separately installed to or removed from the barrel end, which makes the overall process time consuming and complicated. It also requires tools.
Also described is an empty case projectile launching accessory with mark M19 BFA, where the muzzle restrictor mounted to the end of the barrel is connected by three rods to a flange, whereby the flange is located at the end of the barrel support surrounding the barrel and is secured into the opening of the barrel support surrounding the barrel with a protrusion at the end of a pivot pin (network publication PS Magazine, "M2 a1 Machine Gun: Install the M19 BFA the Right Way (M2a1 Machine Gun: M19 BFA mounted in the correct manner", published on year 2020, month 07, 01).
The only option in this solution to ensure a tight fit of the blank projectile launching accessory on the barrel support is to tighten the nut on the end of the rod or on the end of the pivot pin on the side of the support, but this requires a separate tool. The muzzle restrictor is placed at the end of the barrel with some play (i.e., a narrow gap) so that the muzzle restrictor can create enough backpressure to automatically reload, i.e., load, the next magazine from the magazine strip into the barrel.
SUMMERY OF THE UTILITY MODEL
The utility model provides an air-bag bullet launching accessory for machine gun, it includes preceding flange, muzzle current limiter and coaxial rear flange, and this preceding flange has central opening, and this muzzle current limiter aims at installing on the muzzle head of the barrel of machine gun, and this rear flange has central opening, the flange passes through the parallel bar and connects.
The accessory comprises an openable circular clamp for connecting the rear flange to the barrel support of the machine gun, whereby said clamp is formed by arched articulated links connected at the ends by connecting pins, wherein in the closed position of said articulated links a central circular opening is formed in the centre of the clamp.
Wherein at least some of the links have studs on their surfaces that project towards the centre of the opening formed by the links of the clamp.
At one edge of the circular opening of the closed clamp, the links have a circular inner groove that opens towards the center.
The clamp is connected to the recoil booster by a single joint pin, wherein the recoil booster with a central opening has a circular step at the edge with an outer groove.
In the closed position of the clamp formed by the links, the inner grooves on the links engage the outer grooves on the steps of the recoil booster.
The recoil aid and the rear flange are interconnected by a threaded connection such that in the closed position, the central opening of the clamp formed by the chain links, the opening of the recoil aid, the opening of the rear flange screwed into the recoil aid, and the openings of the front flange and the muzzle restrictor are all coaxial.
In a preferred embodiment, the threaded connection between the recoil aid and the rear flange includes a threaded opening in the recoil aid configured to receive a threaded bore of the rear flange such that, in the closed position, the central opening of the clamp formed by the links, the opening of the recoil aid, the opening of the rear flange screwed into the recoil aid, and the openings of the front and muzzle restrictors are all coaxial.
In another embodiment, the threaded connection between the recoil aid and the rear flange includes a threaded bore of the central opening of the rear flange configured to receive the threaded bore of the recoil aid such that, in the closed position, the central opening of the clamp formed by the links, the opening of the recoil aid, the opening of the rear flange screwed into the recoil aid, and the opening of the front flange and the muzzle restrictor are all coaxial.
The utility model provides a characteristic of blank cartridge launch annex especially lies in, and the annex of fixing in the opening of the barrel support piece that encircles the machine gun barrel includes solitary anchor clamps, and this anchor clamps need not the instrument and can install fast and remove.
The clamp is formed by a number of (e.g. three or four) arched articulated links interconnected by connecting pins, wherein the links in the closed position form a circle around the barrel support, wherein the inner surface of each link facing the support has a stud designed to engage with an opening in the support. The joint pin connecting the two center links is firmly connected to the recoil booster, which is also disposed around the barrel support.
The ends of the outermost links on either side of the pin are interconnected with an eccentric tensioning device at a location around the barrel support. The eccentric tightening device is equipped with a quick fixing catch to avoid spontaneous opening.
The part of the recoil guide facing the clamp has a step with a circular outer groove in which the walls of the inner groove at the edge of the surface of each link facing the barrel support fit in the closed position of the clamp, thereby engaging the inner and outer grooves with each other. In other words, the recoil and the closed clamp are tightly coupled to each other.
The recoil aid has a through stepped opening around the barrel support, the smaller diameter bore of the stepped opening corresponding to the diameter of the barrel support and the larger diameter bore of the stepped opening being threaded.
The rear flange is screwed into a threaded hole of an opening in the recoil aid, wherein a rod extending in the direction of the barrel is fixed to the opposite side, whereby the front flange with the muzzle restrictor is fixed to the other end of the rod.
In use, the muzzle restrictor is fitted to the top of the barrel of the machine gun to create the backpressure required for refilling during the firing of empty-pack projectiles. There is a play between the muzzle restrictor and the barrel, but due to the large volume of the released charge gas, refilling will occur anyway. Play/clearance is necessary because in the brownian M2 machine gun, the barrel is in reciprocating linear motion relative to the barrel support of the machine gun and because the blank-pack firing accessory is fixed and not moving relative to the support, the tip of the barrel must be able to reciprocate within the muzzle restrictor.
To prevent the rear flange from vibrating out of the opening of the recoil booster, a locking device is used that does not allow the rear flange to pivot in the threaded opening of the recoil booster. The surface of the recoil aid facing the rear flange has an opening, recess or tooth for receiving the end of the locking device.
The clamp, the recoil aid, the rear flange, the front flange, and the muzzle restrictor are positioned coaxially about the barrel in the operational position.
According to the utility model discloses, the annex is divided into two separable subassemblies to first subassembly includes anchor clamps and recoil ware, and the second subassembly includes muzzle current limiter, preceding flange, back flange and pole. In the operating state, these components are connected to one another by a threaded connection when mounted on the machine gun.
To fire the accessory using an empty-pack, the open clamp with the attached recoil starter is first placed on the barrel and pushed along the barrel toward the rear of the machine gun until the recoil starter is assembled with the clamp at the end of the barrel support. The clamp is then closed around the barrel support with an eccentric tensioning device, so that the studs on the support-facing surface of each link of the clamp fit into corresponding openings in the circle of the barrel support. The eccentric tension device is further fixed through the quick fixing buckle.
The rear flange, with attached rod and front flange and muzzle restrictor, is then pushed onto the barrel of the machine gun. The threaded hole of the rear flange is screwed into the threaded hole of the recoil booster so that the muzzle restrictor on the front flange fits around the end of the barrel support with some play, and the threaded hole of the rear flange screwed into the recoil booster is tightened against the end of the barrel support, holding the entire blank-pack ejection accessory stably in place relative to the barrel support.
The rear flange is then fixed relative to the recoil booster using the locking device. The diameter of the rear flange is such that it can be manually screwed into the recoil aid opening without tools to ensure that the muzzle stop fits over the top of the barrel.
There are various types of barrel supports, some having openings in a circle every 90 degrees on the barrel support, and others having openings in a circle every 120 degrees, i.e., four or three openings in a circle, respectively.
Accordingly, the studs in the links of the clamp must be placed in the correct positions. For this purpose, the links of the gripper can be marked with relevant markings.

To use the accessory 1, the opened clamp 15 with the recoil aid 12 attached is placed on the barrel 3 of the machine gun 2 and pushed along the barrel support 7 towards the barrel 3 until the clamp 15 is fitted on the end of the barrel support together with the recoil aid 12. Thereafter, if necessary, the clamp 15 is rotated together with the recoil aid 12 so that the stud 16 fits into the circular opening 8 in the barrel support 7 when the clamp 15 is closed. The clamp is then locked with the eccentric tensioner 23 and secured with the quick-fix clasp 24.
In this position, the clamp 15 and the first assembly of the recoil guide are secured to the end of the barrel support 7.
Now the second assembly consisting of muzzle limiter 5, front flange 6, rear flange 9 and rod 10 is placed on barrel 3, whereby the top end 4 of barrel 3 fits into muzzle limiter 5 and the threaded hole 22 of rear flange 9 is screwed into the threaded hole 21 of the recoil aid 12, i.e. muzzle limiter 5 is screwed onto the top end 4 of barrel 3 by means of the threaded connection 11, which threaded connection 11 is formed by the threaded hole 22 of the above-mentioned rear flange 9 and the threaded opening 21 of the recoil aid 12. For locking into the tightening position, the rear flange 9 has a locking device 25, the end 26 of which locking device 25 engages with a recess 27 on the surface of the recoil aid 12 facing the rear flange 9.
