Detailed Description
Referring to the drawings, an actuator assembly in accordance with the present invention is disclosed and is generally indicated by reference numeral 100.
The actuator assembly 100 includes a cartridge S having a base 7, a cover 8 and a cap 86.
The box S houses an electric motor 4 and a gear train T which actuates a pulley 5 arranged outside the cover 8. The cap 86 is mounted on the cover 8 so as to cover the pulley 5.
Pulley 5 actuates a bowden cable (not shown in the figures) which is adapted to be connected to a part of the vehicle lock.
The gear train T comprises a first gear 1, a second gear 2 and a third gear 3.
The first gear wheel 1 is a double gear wheel comprising a first crown 10 and a second crown 11 having a smaller diameter than the first crown. The first crown 10 has helical teeth.
The second gear wheel 2 is a double gear wheel comprising a third crown 20 and a fourth crown 21 having a larger diameter than the third crown.
The third gear wheel 3 has a fifth crown 30 extending for about one half of the circumference and lobes 31 projecting radially outwards in the opposite direction with respect to the fifth crown 30.
The third gear wheel 3 has a first central shank 32 with a splined axial channel 33 for prismatic connection with a second central shank 53 of the pulley. In view of the above, the rotation of the third gear 3 determines the rotation of the pulley 5 and therefore the actuation of the bowden cable connected to the pulley 5.
The electric motor 4 has a drive shaft 40 connected to a worm 41 which engages the first crown 10 of the first gear. The second crown 11 of the first gear is engaged with the third crown 20 of the second gear. The fourth crown 21 of the second gear is engaged with the fifth crown 30 of the third gear. In view of the above, the actuation of the motor 4 determines the rotation of the third gear 3 and, therefore, of the pulley 5 of the bowden cable connected to a part of the lock.
A detecting device is provided in the cartridge S to detect the position of the third gear 3. The detection means comprise a microswitch W actuated by the lever 6.
The lever 6 is shaped like a fork and is hinged to the box. The lever comprises a first arm 61 directed towards the lobe 31 of the third gear and a second arm 62 directed towards the microswitch W.
Referring to fig. 5, the spring 63 holds the lever 6 in a position where the second arm 62 of the lever presses the microswitch W. When the third gear 3 rotates in the clockwise direction, the lobe 31 of the third gear pushes the first arm 61 of the lever, causing the lever to rotate about the hinge axis. Thus, the second arm 62 of the lever is moved away from the microswitch W, which changes its state, indicating the movement of the third gear 3 and therefore of the pulley 5 actuating the bowden cable connected to a part of the lock.
The actuator assembly 100 includes an electrical connector 9 connected to the motor 4. The electrical connector 9 has a port 90 projecting outwardly from the box S to receive a cable for powering the motor 4.
The base 7 includes first to fourth seats 70, 71, 72, 73 that accommodate the motor 4, the first gear 1, the second gear 2, and the third gear 3, respectively. The first gear 1 is rotatably mounted in the second seat 71 by means of a shaft 15, and the second gear 2 is rotatably mounted in the third seat 72 by means of a shaft 25. The third gear wheel 3 is rotatably mounted in a fourth seat 73 by means of a set of rotary supports 35 or bearings or equivalent means.
The first plate P1 is mounted in the fifth seat 36 of the cassette, behind the motor 4, so as to be in contact with the rear end 46 of the drive shaft projecting from behind the motor.
The second plate P2 is mounted in the sixth seat 37 of the cartridge, in front of the motor 4, so as to be in contact with the front end 47 of the drive shaft.
The plates P1, P2 release the axial thrust to which the motor 4 is subjected, which would otherwise be released to the brass of the motor, causing damage.
The actuator assembly 100 includes a plurality of clips 77 that engage flanges 78 that project outwardly from the base 7 of the cassette. The clips 77 are adapted to engage with seats of the vehicle body, thereby securing the cartridge S to the vehicle body.
The lid 8 is fixed to the base 7 of the box by means of screws 80, the screws 80 being inserted in holes in a flange 81, the flange 81 projecting outwards from the lid and being screwed into a seat 79 of the base.
The cover 8 has two annular supports 82, 83 which rotatably support the shafts 15, 25 of the first and second gear wheels.
The cover 8 has a seventh seat 84 to house the pulley 5 and a through hole 85 for inserting the second central shank 53 of the pulley.
The cap 86 covers the pulley 5 and has an opening 87, the opening 87 being adapted for insertion of a bowden cable connected to the locking portion.
Many equivalent variations and modifications may be made to the present embodiments of the invention, which variations and modifications are within the ability of those skilled in the art, while still falling within the scope of the invention as disclosed.
