Abstract
A vehicle latch (18) comprising: a claw (16); a pawl (12); holding an opening lever (22) preventing the pawl (12) from engaging the pawl (16) until the pawl (16) is rotated to open the latch (18); a gear (26) having a gear tab (14) that engages a stop feature (20) located on the pawl (12), wherein engagement of the stop feature (20) with the gear tab (14) prevents engagement of the hold open lever (22) with the pawl in the event of a latch strike closing event.
Description
Cross Reference to Related Applications
The application requires that the application numbers applied in 2019, 4, month and 24 are as follows: 201911016308 to indian provisional patent.
Technical Field
The present disclosure relates to the field of vehicle latches.
Background
In some cases, when the latch is struck, each time the latch is struck, portions of the latch rebound and the latch only reaches the secondary position, but not the desired primary position. In this way, the hold open lever will engage in the event that it should not be closed.
One of the reasons that latches may bounce in the event of a violent impact is that they arise from the pawl, which interacts with the hold-open lever during the closing function, because when the striker enters the pawl, the pawl will begin to rotate at high speed due to the energy of the impact, and the pawl will be pushed back into position with a great force, which displaces the assembly sufficiently large to enable engagement/actuation of the hold-open lever in the event of an impact, and does not allow engagement of the pawl and the pawl in the primary position, but can be in the secondary position.
Disclosure of Invention
A latch prevents hold release lever actuation each time the latch strikes a close event.
A vehicle latch, comprising: a claw; a pawl; holding an opening lever preventing the pawl from engaging the pawl until the pawl rotates to open the latch; a gear having a gear tab that engages a stop feature located on the pawl, wherein engagement of the stop feature with the gear tab prevents engagement of the hold open lever with the pawl in the event of a latch slam close event.
In addition to one or more of the features described above, or as an alternative to any of the embodiments described above, the stop feature is proximate to a groove opening of the pawl.
In addition to one or more of the features described above, or as an alternative to any of the embodiments described above, the gear tab rests on top of the stop feature after the power release function of the latch is completed.
In addition to one or more of the features described above, or as an alternative to any of the embodiments described above, the gear lug stops against the stop feature during a closing event of the latch.

Detailed Description
A detailed description of one or more embodiments of the disclosed apparatus and method are presented herein by way of illustration, not limitation.
Fig. 1 illustrates the current detent lever 10 design, while fig. 2 illustrates the detent lever 12 design of the present disclosure.
Fig. 3 illustrates a power release event in which gear tab 14 pushes detent lever 12 in a release direction to release detent lever 16 and open latch 18.
Fig. 4 shows the gear tab 14 resting on top of the anti-inertia stop feature 20 of the detent lever 12 after the power release function is completed, and the hold open lever 22 is actuated because the pawl 16 has not begun to rotate to open the latch 18, and once the pawl 16 begins to rotate, the hold open lever 22 will release the detent lever 12.
Fig. 5 shows the gear tab 14 in the home position with the pawl 12 and pawl 16 in the open position prior to a latch slam/close event.
Fig. 6 illustrates a latch closing event in which the pawl 12 stops on the gear tab 14 and can no longer travel, thereby avoiding the hold open lever 22 from engaging.
Fig. 7 shows the latch 18 in a hold open position.
Fig. 8 shows the latch 18 in a hold open position with the frame 24 removed for clarity.
Fig. 9 shows the latch 18 in the gear stop position.
Fig. 10 shows the latch 18 in the gear stop position with the frame 24 removed for clarity.
Fig. 11 shows the latch 18 in the unlocked position.
Fig. 12 shows the latch 18 in an unlocked state with the frame 24 removed for clarity.
FIG. 13 shows the latch 18 in the latched position; and fig. 14 shows the latch 18 in the latched position with the frame 24 removed for clarity.
To prevent the hold open lever 22 from actuating at each latch door close event, a stop feature 20 has been added to the detent lever 12 to stop movement of the detent 12. This stop feature 20 will reduce pawl displacement by about 30% and will not allow hold open lever 22 to engage during the mechanical closing function, and this inertia prevention stop feature 20 will work as follows when interacting with gear tab 14. Gear tab 14 pushes detent lever 12 to release power and once gear 26 completes its rotation it will strike the top of anti-inertia stop 20, causing detent 12 to continue to rotate until the detent reaches its final position without stopping it due to the surface sloping toward the final position point of the gear tongue on the feature, which is near notch opening 28 of detent lever 12 and from there when the latch is struck, the detent lever will rotate toward anti-inertia stop feature 20 and the last detent lever will stop it after 70% of its original travel without allowing hold-open lever 22 to engage.
