Description
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a screw with a driving recess on the head, and more particularly to a screw with a substantially cross-shaped or quincunx head recess.
Background
Fig. 1 shows a screw head 10, the top surface 12 of the head 10 having a driving recess 14 for receiving a coupling blade (not shown) at the front end of a screwdriver bit to drive the screw. The recess 14 may be a cross as shown in fig. 1 or a cavity in the form of, for example, a straight line, a square, a hexagon, a quincunx, etc. However, the screwdriver bits with which the existing screw driving recesses are fitted are generally limited to the need to have corresponding engaging edges. For example, the cross-shaped recess is only suitable for providing the cross-shaped joining edge alignment insertion, which is inconvenient in the insertion operation. In addition, the driving torque point of the cross-shaped combination blade inserted into the cross-shaped groove is small, sufficient torque cannot be generated, the groove and the combination blade are easily damaged, and the service life is shortened. Further, since the cross-shaped coupling blade is not inserted into the cross-shaped recess in the coupling, if the two are coupled without being separated from each other, it is necessary to assist the coupling by the attraction force of the magnet, which increases the manufacturing cost.
SUMMERY OF THE UTILITY MODEL
The present invention provides a screw, the top surface of the head of the screw has a groove for inserting a tool (such as a screwdriver bit), the groove allows the corresponding screwdriver bit to be easily inserted and can generate the maximum driving torque.
According to the screw of this novel constitution which includes a body of rod and a head that forms in the upper end of this body of rod, the top surface of this head has a recess for providing the combination sword of a instrument to insert, and this recess includes:
a central region extending into the head and having a trough bottom; a plurality of peripheral regions extending radially outwardly from the central region and spaced around the central region, each peripheral region being defined by spaced side walls and an arcuate wall connected between outer ends of the side walls, the side walls and arcuate wall of each peripheral region extending from the top surface of the head to the base of the trough, each peripheral region projecting outwardly a first length relative to the central region; and a plurality of connecting areas, each connecting area is connected between the inner ends of two adjacent side walls of two adjacent peripheral areas, each connecting area is defined by an arc wall which protrudes outwards relative to the central area, the arc wall extends inwards from the top surface of the head part towards the bottom of the groove in an inclined mode and protrudes outwards relative to the central area by a second length which is 1/5 to 1/2 of the first length (L1), two side ends of the arc wall and the inner ends of the side walls of the connected peripheral areas respectively form an arc junction, and each arc junction is inwards concave relative to the central area.
Further, the groove includes four peripheral regions, and two adjacent peripheral regions are separated by 90 degrees.
Further, the groove includes six peripheral regions, and adjacent two peripheral regions are separated by 60 degrees.

Detailed Description
Reference will now be made in detail to embodiments of the present invention, examples of which are illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein like reference numerals refer to the same or similar elements or elements having the same or similar function throughout. The embodiments described below by referring to the drawings are exemplary only for explaining the present invention, and should not be construed as limiting the present invention.
Fig. 2 to 4 show a screw 20 according to an embodiment of the present invention, in which the screw 20 includes a shaft 22 and a head 24 formed at an upper end of the shaft 22. The shank 22 is threaded (not shown) and the top surface 26 of the head 24 has a recess 28 for receiving an engaging edge of a tool (e.g., a screwdriver bit) to drive the screw 20. The groove 28 includes a central region 30, peripheral regions 32 extending radially outward from the central region 30, and connecting regions 34 connected between the peripheral regions 32. The central region 30 extends into the head 24 to a sufficient depth to provide adequate engagement for driver bit insertion and has a slot bottom 36 (see fig. 4). The plurality of peripheral regions 32 surround the central region 30 in equiangular separation. In the present embodiment, the recess 28 includes four peripheral regions 32, with two adjacent peripheral regions 32 being separated by about 90 degrees such that the recess 28 generally exhibits a cross-shape, and in the present embodiment shown in FIG. 5, the recess 28 includes six peripheral regions 32, with two adjacent peripheral regions 32 being separated by about 60 degrees such that the recess 28 generally exhibits a quincunx-shape. In other embodiments, the recess 28 may include more peripheral regions 32, such as eight or twelve.
Each peripheral region 32 is defined by spaced apart sidewalls 38 and an arcuate wall 40 connected between the outer ends of the sidewalls 38, the sidewalls 38 and arcuate wall 40 extending obliquely inwardly from the top surface 26 of the head portion 24 to the base 36, the arcuate wall 40 presenting an outward bulge relative to the central region 30. When the engaging edge (not shown) of the screwdriver bit is inserted into the recess 28 to turn the screw 20, the two ends 41 of the curved wall 40 of each peripheral region 32 provide a torsion point. Each attachment region 34 is connected between the inner ends of adjacent sidewalls 38 of adjacent peripheral regions 32 such that adjacent peripheral regions 32 are separated by the attachment region 34. Each connecting region 34 is defined by an outwardly convex arcuate wall 42 relative to the central region 30, the arcuate wall 42 extending obliquely inwardly from the top surface 26 of the head portion 24 toward the base 36, and the two side ends of the arcuate wall 42 and the inner ends of the side walls 38 of the connected peripheral region 32 each forming an arcuate junction 44, each arcuate junction 44 being inwardly concave relative to the central region 30. Accordingly, when the joining edge of the screwdriver bit is inserted into the recess 28, each connecting region 34 and the circular arcs 44 on both sides form an engaging surface, so that the joining edge can be tightly attached to the recess 28.
The recess 28 according to the present novel construction can be provided on screws having any head shape, and thus, has the advantage of ease of manufacture. As shown in FIG. 3, the central area 30 of the recess 28 has a larger aperture diameter relative to the recess 14 of FIG. 1, so that the engaging edge of the driver bit can be more easily inserted into the recess 28. Also, the peripheral regions 32 project outwardly a fixed length (L1) relative to the central region 30, and the ends 41 formed by the curved walls 40 and the outer ends of the side walls 38 provide a wider range of torque points, so that the grooves 28 create more torque. In addition, the arc walls 42 extend obliquely inward from the top surface 12 of the head portion 10 toward the bottom surface 30 relative to the central area 30 by a second length (L2) which is 1/5 to 1/2 of the first length (L1) and protrudes outward relative to the central area 30, both side ends of the arc walls 42 and the inner ends of the side walls 38 of the connected peripheral area respectively form an arc junction 44, and each arc junction 44 is recessed inward relative to the central area; accordingly, when the engaging edge of the screwdriver bit is inserted into the recess 28, the plurality of arc walls 42 provide a mating surface for the engaging edge to closely contact with each other, so that the engaging edge and the engaging surface can be engaged without the assistance of the attraction of the magnet, thereby increasing the stability of the screw 20 in use without increasing the manufacturing cost.
The structure, features and effects of the present invention have been described in detail above according to the embodiment shown in the drawings, and the above description is only the preferred embodiment of the present invention, but the present invention is not limited to the implementation scope shown in the drawings, and all changes made according to the idea of the present invention or equivalent embodiments modified to the same changes should be considered within the protection scope of the present invention when not exceeding the spirit covered by the description and drawings.
