Description

Modular trim panel for vehicle interior trim
Technical Field
The utility model relates to a modularization decoration panel for vehicle interior trim. More particularly, the present invention relates to an apparatus for assembling a modular trim panel in a vehicle interior.
Background
Each exterior component of the vehicle may be customized according to user preferences, such as color, pattern, and material of the exterior panel. However, there are few customization options when dealing with vehicle interior trim. The customization is for the aesthetic appeal of the user. Currently, interior panel customization is done by OEMs for a particular level of decoration, and cannot be changed by the user. The user has to accept the default internal arrangement. If the user wants to retrofit the trim panel for the vehicle interior, the user must contact a nearby dealer to install the panel. In addition, stickers and laminates may be used that may be temporarily laminated to an inner panel for decoration, but these laminates may eventually fall off after a period of time.
Furthermore, replacing the trim panels and the mechanisms for arranging the panels are difficult tasks. The complexity of this mechanism prevents users from customizing the internal systems of their vehicles.
Accordingly, there is a need to provide a customizable trim panel in a vehicle interior that can be easily replaced by a user, thereby overcoming some or all of the disadvantages of existing interior trim panels.

The terms "comprising," "having," "containing," and "containing," as well as other forms of the words are intended to be equivalent in meaning and to exist in an open ended form, because one or more items following any one of these terms are not meant to be an exhaustive list of the one or more items or are limited to only the one or more items listed.
The terms "first," "second," and the like, herein do not denote any order, quantity, or importance, but rather are used to distinguish one element from another, and the terms "a" and "an" herein do not denote a limitation of quantity, but rather denote the presence of at least one of the referenced item.
The disclosed embodiments are merely examples of the invention, which may be embodied in various forms.
Referring to fig. 1, a modular trim panel 100 for a vehicle interior according to the present invention is shown. The modular trim panel 100 is attachable to an interior panel 200 of a vehicle interior. The interior panel 200 may be an instrument panel or a door panel or a center console panel of a vehicle interior or the like. The present embodiment is shown to provide a modular trim panel 100 configured on the instrument panel of a vehicle. It will be apparent to those skilled in the art that the modular trim panel 100 can be configured on any other part of the vehicle interior. The modular trim panel 100 may be any type of cover panel that may be used to close or cover a panel system. Also, the modular trim panel 100 may be a cover for a storage compartment or console, etc. In this embodiment, the modular trim panel 100 is a replaceable panel that can be customized to the user's preferences.
The modular trim panel 100 has an exterior surface 100a and an interior surface 100 b. As shown in fig. 1, the outer surface 100a is visually disposed on the inner panel 200. The interior surface 100b of the modular trim panel 100 is attachable to the interior panel 200. The interior surface 100b of the modular trim panel 100 is provided with guide means 110, locking means 120 and locking elements 130, as shown in fig. 2.
The guide arrangement 110 allows the modular trim panel 100 to be aligned along the interior panel 200. The guide 100 has a plurality of protrusions. The plurality of protrusions guide the modular trim panel 100 to slide within corresponding slots (not shown) disposed on the interior panel 200 when the modular trim panel 100 is installed. The plurality of projections may be male fixation elements and the slot may be female fixation elements. The male and female fastening elements allow the modular trim panel 100 to be securely mounted to the interior panel 200.
Furthermore, a locking element 130 is arranged on the inner surface 100b of the modular trim panel 100, which inner surface 100b is lockable with a locking device 120 arranged on the inner panel 200. The locking element 130 is a cavity or slot or any protrusion with an opening.
The locking device 120 is operatively connected to the modular trim panel 100. The locking device 120 is an extension member extending perpendicularly toward the inner panel 200. The locking device 120 is rotatably actuated to unlock and push the modular trim panel 100 away from the interior panel 200.
Specifically, operation of the locking device 120 unlocks the modular trim panel 100 to remove the modular trim panel 100 from the interior panel 200. The locking device 120 has an operating member 122 which can be manually operated by a user. The operating member 120 is disposed on the inner panel 200. As shown in fig. 3, the operating member 122 is an extension of the locking device 120. In the present embodiment, the operating member 122 has an extended pin 122a to facilitate actuation of the operating member 122 to replace the modular trim panel 100. The pin 122a may be an extension of the operating member 122 or a separate pin 122a may be inserted to actuate the operating member 122 in place of the modular trim panel 100.
Further, as shown in fig. 4, the operating member 122 is rotatably disposed on a cam mechanism 140, and the cam mechanism 140 is disposed between the operating member 100 and the inner panel 200. The cam mechanism 140 enables rotational movement of the operating member 122 between the first direction and the second direction. The operating member 122 of the locking device 120 has a hook 120a with a cam profile and a biasing member 124 thereon. Specifically, the hooks 120a engage with the locking elements 130 on the interior panel 200 to lock the modular trim panel 100 to the interior panel 200.
Referring again to fig. 1, the modular trim panel 100 is disposed on the instrument panel of the vehicle interior. In this embodiment, the operating member 122 is disposed between the glove box 150 and the modular trim panel 100, thereby allowing the operating member 122 to be operable from the interior of the glove box 150, as shown in fig. 3 and 5. The user can open the glove box 150 to operate the pin 122a of the operating member 122. The operating member 122 is rotatable along the Y-axis between a first direction and a second direction. Specifically, upon actuation of the operating member 122 in the first direction, the locking device 120 unlocks and pushes the modular trim panel 100 away from the interior panel 200, thereby removing the modular trim panel 100.
Specifically, when the operating member 122 is operated in the first direction, the cam profile of the hook 120a pushes the modular trim panel 100 away from the interior panel 200. The first direction facilitates the locking device 120 pushing against the modular trim panel 100 to separate the modular trim panel 100 from the interior panel 200. In a later step, the modular trim panel 100 is manually removable from the interior panel 200.
After unlocking the hook 120a and after releasing the operating member 122, the biasing member 124 biases the hook 120a and rotates the locking device 120 in the second direction. In the second orientation, the hook 120a may or may not engage with the locking element 130.
To attach the modular trim panel 100, the modular trim panel 100 is pressed onto the interior panel 200. When the modular trim panel 100 is pressed against the interior panel 200, the guide arrangement 110 aligns the modular trim panel 100 and locks the locking arrangement 120 using the locking elements 130. Specifically, when the modular trim panel 100 is pressed against the interior panel 200, the hooks 120a engage with the locking elements 130, thereby attaching the modular trim panel 100 to the interior panel 200.
Accordingly, the present invention has the advantage of providing a modular trim panel 100, which modular trim panel 100 can be easily replaced by a user. The modular trim panel 100 has less operational complexity. Further, it may be modified into a door panel or an instrument panel or the like. Moreover, the modular trim panel 100 allows for easy modification and alteration of the trim of the interior panel.
The foregoing descriptions of specific embodiments of the present invention have been presented for purposes of illustration and description. They are not intended to be exhaustive or to limit the invention to the precise forms disclosed, and obviously many modifications and variations are possible in light of the above teaching. The embodiments were chosen and described in order to best explain the principles of the invention and its practical applications, to thereby enable others skilled in the art to best utilize the invention and various embodiments with various modifications as are suited to the particular use contemplated. It should be understood that various omissions and substitutions of equivalents are contemplated as appropriate, but such omissions and substitutions are intended to cover the application or embodiments without departing from the scope of the claims of the present disclosure.
