电表箱在电力设施设备中使用较为广泛。公共电网中的电缆分支箱、低压配电箱、水泵控制箱、通讯装置柜、路灯和交通灯控制箱、多功能计量箱、综合配电箱、电容补偿箱、端子箱、壁挂式分线箱、计量箱等都要用到电表箱。
现有的电表箱在查看操作时，需要表箱本身深度较浅，否则很难读到表头上的数字读取时也较为费神，而且一些表箱密封不好，很长时间看一次，表头的玻璃上会落上一层尘土或者其他粘结物品，影响使用效果。
