目前市场上的电饭煲都自带有便于洗米和盛饭用的勺子，一般都是塑料的，但是能配用的勺子手柄都比较短，不能直接放在电饭煲内，都是放在电饭煲外壳边设有的插架内。当电饭煲内为粥等流体食物时，这种设计存在两个缺点，一是使用时都必须对准夹槽，顺着夹槽才能放稳取出，麻烦且费时，稍不注意就会脱落弄脏，而且流体食物会顺着勺子留到外面；二是由于勺子手柄是向下放置在架子上的，取用时往往是手拿勺子头部抽出，极不卫生。
