遮雨使用时，使用者打开雨伞，手握伞杆，利用伞面遮挡雨水，达到遮雨目的。使用后，使用者闭合伞面，将伞面合拢在伞杆周围，然后打开伞杆顶端的储物筒，从中拉出套袋，将套袋将合拢后的伞面套住，套袋顶口的松紧带勒住伞面，最后将伞杆顶端触地，利用套袋来承接伞面表面留下的雨水，避免雨水滴落在地面上。
