当筷子数量较少时，可将副筒体2推入至主筒体1内，使之成为一相互套叠的筷子筒，占用空间较少；当筷子数量多时，自主筒体1内拉出副筒体2，由于挡销的作用，当副筒体2拉出至极限位置时便可自动停止，此时便可形成两个或多个不同大小的筷子筒，能够存储更多的筷子，以保持正常的通风和排水，防止筷子潮湿发霉，保证干燥和卫生，有利于使用者的身体健康。
