有刻度的量杯属量出式量器，它用于量度从量器中排出液体的体积，广泛在应用于各种试验和生活中。现有的量杯，只能测量出盛着液体的体积，却无法得知温度。如生活中，常见的就是水的温度，成年人在喝水前会小口试试水温，以免烫伤，但对于儿童，容易因过急喝水而引起烫伤，特别是在为儿童冲饮料或奶粉时，水温特别重要，因此，常常会反反复复不断的用嘴尝水温，然后添加热水或者冷水，以获取合适的水温，这样使得冲剂其浓度不确定。
