分体式太阳能热水器将传统太阳能热水器的一体式改为储水箱与集热器相互分离，使得储水箱可放置在室内，而集热器可灵活安装在阳台墙壁或外墙窗口下方。储水箱内设有换热器，换热器通过介质管道和集热器内的集热管连接构成一个循环回路，该循环回路不断的将集热管内收集的热量通过换热器释放到储水箱内，如此反复循环实现加热。因此储水箱内的换热器性能好坏直接影响到储水箱的传热效果。
传统的分体式太阳能热水器集热水箱内设铜质盘管作为换热器，其换热面积受到一定的限制，传热效果较差。
