现有的输液器主要由皮肤穿刺针、输液管和瓶塞穿刺针构成,在瓶塞穿刺针的顶端有主输液孔,点滴操作时,先将瓶塞穿刺针穿过输液瓶的瓶塞进入输液瓶内,再将皮肤穿刺针刺入患者静脉血管内,使输液瓶中的药液缓慢进入患者静脉血管,由于瓶塞穿刺针的主输液孔在针的顶端,药液面低于主输液孔后不能继续流进输液管,造成给药量不足,尤其是小剂量装的贵重药液浪费比率更大。
