锤子是敲打物体使其移动或变形的工具，最常用来敲钉子，矫正或是将物件敲开，传统的形式是一柄把手以及顶部，顶部的一面是平坦的以便敲击，另一面则是起钉器，起钉器的形状像羊角，也可以是楔形，其功能为拉出钉子，但现实生活中由于钉子外露部分较长、角度不同，使钉子的拉出受到很大限制，如果在锤头部分增加一调节装置，用于弥补钉子由于长度、角度的不同而无法拉出的问题，就可更加安全、方便、快捷地取出钉子。

如图1所示。一种可调式锤子，包括手柄1和锤头2，锤头2的一端设有起钉器，所述的锤头2上与起钉器相对的一端呈楔形并在末端设有利刃；锤头2的顶端设有一平面，所述的平面上设有一螺孔，所述螺孔内设有一支撑柱3；所述支撑柱3侧壁设有外螺纹，通过螺纹配合安装在螺孔内。
使用时，若需要实现敲打的功能，则使用锤头2的两侧面进行敲打；当需要劈砍时，利用锤头2一端的楔形利刃可以实现；当需要起钉时，根据待拉出钉子外露部分的长短、角度将支撑柱3旋出，与钉子钉头的底面相接触，确定在合适位置后，由于螺纹连接存在自锁性，支撑柱3不会回缩，便可利用手柄省时省力地将钉子拉出。
