本发明涉及乙烯的应用和驱动内燃机的方法。
已知将天然气即甲烷(CH4)用于内燃机中。但天然气存在这类内燃机功率小的缺陷。因为-1117Kcal/kg的生成热意味着内能含量低。天然气在空气中的点火特性较差。因为天然气的密度较低,所以可能的存储容量较低。此外液态天然气的沸点为很低的-164℃,以致在使用液态天然气时出现较大的蒸发损失。
本发明的任务在于,提供一种内燃机的燃料,它克服了天然气燃料的缺陷。
本发明的任务可通过将乙烯(C2H4)用作内燃机的燃料而加以实现。
乙烯具有较好的点火特性的优点。其可燃性范围为2.7-34体积%。用乙烯驱动的内燃机的功率较高,因为乙烯具有正值的生成热+447Kcal/kg并从而具有较高的内能。在约1巴的压力下,其沸点为-104℃,因而蒸发损失较低。此外,对于乙烯来说,在1.26kg/m3的密度下,存储容量不论是在液态还是在气态形式(在0℃和约1巴的压力下)下都较高。
此外的优点是,乙烯的废气值和天然气的一样好。
根据本发明使用液态或压缩气态的乙烯,其中“液态”乙烯在此意为深冷液化的乙烯。
根据本发明的乙烯作为液态或压缩气态气烯在0.1-15巴,优选0.1-10巴的压力下,和在-20-+50℃,优选在0-+30℃的温度下被使用。
根据本发明所使用的乙烯优选具有99.0-99.9,尤其优选具有99.0-99.5的纯度。

7.驱动内燃机的方法,其特征在于,从一贮存容器经导管将作为燃料的乙烯送至内燃机,乙烯被送入内燃机的燃烧室、点火并燃烧,并且将产生的废气从燃烧室中排出。
8.根据权利要求7的驱动内燃机的方法,其用于固定装置的内燃机或用于驱动汽车。
9.根据权利要求7的驱动内燃机的方法,其用于“奥托“发动机。
