Description

Application of natural unsaturated fatty aldehyde in prevention and control of storage pests
Technical Field
The invention belongs to the technical field of biological control, and particularly relates to application of natural unsaturated fatty aldehyde in controlling storage pests.
Background
The stored pests form a great threat to grain quality and storage safety, resulting in grain quality degradation and a great deal of loss. According to the investigation of the grain and agriculture organization of the united nations, the losses caused by stored grain pests are about 4% to 8% of the total storage, which in some countries may even be as high as 30%. Therefore, how to scientifically and effectively prevent and control grain storage pests and protect stored grains from pests becomes a challenge to be solved in the field of grain storage safety.
At present, the low-temperature grain storage technology and the air-conditioning insecticidal technology are commonly applied to pest control of grain storage. However, physical control of low temperature and nitrogen-filled regulation (hypoxia) still faces pest occurrence problems, and low temperature-resistant and hypoxia-resistant pests are difficult to thoroughly remove. The application scene of the nitrogen regulating technology is mainly a grain storage environment in the south, and the nitrogen regulating technology has the defects of long operation period, high requirement on environment tightness and the like. Chemical fumigants have great effectiveness in pest control applications in grain storage, such as sulfuryl fluoride and aluminum phosphide fumigation techniques. However, there are studies showing that sulfuryl fluoride is a powerful greenhouse gas, which has a non-negligible effect on global warming. The long-term use of aluminum phosphide also leads to the enhancement of pest resistance, and is difficult to achieve the effect of efficiently killing pests, and in addition, a large amount of highly toxic gas can be generated when the aluminum phosphide is decomposed, so that the harm is caused to the health of human bodies. Chemical control is cheap and efficient, but can harm grain safety, damage environment and influence human and animal health. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop new efficient, environmentally friendly pest control technologies for stored grain to supplement the shortcomings of the existing control technologies.
Naturally unsaturated fatty aldehydes are a class of compounds commonly found in volatile essential oils of plants, which play an important role in plant defense mechanisms against pathogenic microorganisms. These compounds not only emit fragrance, but also have important value as natural perfume resources. In particular, trans-2, 4-heptadienal and trans-2-heptenal are two typical plant synthesized natural unsaturated fatty aldehydes, which have been certified as safe flavorants and preservatives by the food additive use Standard (GB 2760) and the United states Food and Drug Administration (FDA) published by the national health Commission. The efficacy of the two natural unsaturated fatty aldehydes in grain storage pest control is evaluated in the study. The result shows that the trans, trans-2, 4-heptadienal and trans-2-heptenal can effectively kill grain storage pests through fumigation treatment, thereby exhibiting potential as a novel pesticide. In view of its high efficiency and safety, trans-2, 4-heptadienal and trans-2-heptenal have further research and development value in the field of pest control in grain storage silos.
