As shown in fig. 2, the terminal device communicates in the network, and needs to report its communication capability to the base station when initially accessing the network, so that the base station can make a corresponding scheduling. Since the hardware condition of the terminal device is generally determined, for example, the terminal device has a determined power amplifier capability, the number of receiving antennas, the number of transmitting antennas, and the like, the communication capability reported to the network by the terminal device is correspondingly determined.
Based on this, in the related art, the communication capability of the terminal is reported only once when accessing the network, if the capability needs to be adjusted, the initial access procedure needs to be restarted to report the capability, and this way needs to break the current connection between the terminal device and the network, so as to affect the continuity of the service.
In some scenarios, the capability information of the terminal device may change. One typical scenario is to add or subtract external devices to the terminal connection. Increasing or decreasing the number of external devices to which the terminal device is connected may change the communication capability of the terminal, for example, increasing or decreasing the number of transceiving antennas, etc. As shown in fig. 3, the terminal device itself has one transmitting antenna, and the external device has two transmitting antennas, and in the case where the terminal device is connected to the external device, the communication capability information of the terminal device will be different from the communication capability when the terminal device is not connected to the external device. If the external device and the terminal device are frequently connected and disconnected, the communication connection of the terminal is frequently disconnected.
The scheme provided by the embodiment of the application is mainly used for solving at least one of the problems.
For a more complete understanding of the nature and the technical content of the embodiments of the present invention, reference should be made to the following detailed description of embodiments of the invention, taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, which are meant to be illustrative only and not limiting of the embodiments of the invention.
Fig. 4 is a schematic flow chart of a capability indication method according to an embodiment of the application. The method may alternatively be applied to the terminal device shown in fig. 1, but is not limited thereto. The method comprises the following steps:
S110: the terminal device sends capability update information to the network device, wherein the capability update information is used for indicating the network device to update the capability information of the terminal device based on the first capability information.
Accordingly, fig. 5 is a schematic flow chart diagram of a capability indication method according to another embodiment of the present application. The method may alternatively be applied to the network device shown in fig. 1, but is not limited thereto. The method comprises the following steps:
S210: in the case of receiving the capability update information transmitted by the terminal device, the network device updates the capability information of the terminal device based on the first capability information.
The first capability information may be one of a plurality of capability information indicated in advance, capability information reported in the capability update information, or capability information agreed in advance between the terminal device and the network device.
For example, the terminal device may indicate a plurality of capability information in advance. Thereafter, the terminal device transmits capability update information to the network device to activate first capability information among the plurality of capability information, and the network device updates terminal capability information stored by the terminal device (i.e., capability information of the terminal device) based on the first capability information.
For another example, each time the capability of the terminal device changes, the terminal device may send capability update information to the network device to report the changed first capability information, and the network device updates the terminal capability information stored by the network device based on the first capability information.
For another example, the first capability information is predefined. When the terminal equipment sends the capability updating information to the network equipment, the network equipment is triggered to take the predefined first capability information as terminal capability information.
Alternatively, the capability update information may include RRC information or physical layer indication information.
Alternatively, the capability update information may include activation information of the first capability information or the first capability information, or the like. That is, the capability update information may instruct the network device to update the terminal capability information by activating the first capability information or reporting the first capability information.
In an alternative exemplary manner, the terminal device may indicate the plurality of capability information during initial access to the network, for example during initial access to the network in an idle state. Then, when the capability is changed, the current corresponding capability information is activated. That is, the capability update information includes activation information of the first capability information, and the capability indication method further includes, before the terminal device transmits the capability update information to the network device:
In the process of initially accessing the network, the terminal equipment sends capability reporting information to the network equipment;
The capability report information comprises a plurality of capability information, wherein the capability information comprises first capability information and second capability information, and the second capability information is used for determining initial capability information of the terminal equipment.
Accordingly, for the network device, the capability indication method further includes:
The network equipment receives capability reporting information sent by the terminal equipment in the process of initially accessing the network; the capability report information comprises a plurality of capability information, wherein the capability information comprises first capability information and second capability information;
The network device determines initial capability information of the terminal device based on the second capability information.
The second capability information may be actual capability information of the terminal device when the terminal device initially accesses the network, or default capability information. The default capability information may be capability information of the terminal device when the external device is not connected, for example. The plurality of capability information may include capability information when one or more terminal devices are connected to an external device, for example, different capability information when the terminal device is connected to a different external device, in addition to the default capability information.
For example, the terminal device initiates an initial access procedure in an idle state, and transmits capability reporting information in the initial access procedure to report a plurality of capability information. The network device uses default capability information among the plurality of capability information as capability information of the terminal device. And then, in a connection state or a non-activation state, the terminal equipment is connected with the external equipment, the capacity is changed, at the moment, the terminal equipment does not need to return to an idle state to initiate an initial access process again, only the capacity update information is needed to be sent, the first capacity information which accords with the current capacity in the plurality of capacity information is activated, and the network equipment can update the capacity information of the terminal equipment based on the first capacity information.
In another alternative exemplary manner, the terminal device may indicate/report a capability information during initial access to the network, for example during initial access to the network in an idle state. And then, indicating/reporting the changed capability information when the capability is changed. That is, the capability update information includes the first capability information, or the capability update information carries the first capability information. Before the terminal device sends the capability update information to the network device, the capability indication method further comprises the following steps:
In the process of initially accessing the network, the terminal equipment sends capability reporting information to the network equipment;
The capability report information comprises second capability information, wherein the second capability information is used for determining initial capability information of the terminal equipment.
Accordingly, for the network device, the capability indication method further includes:
The network equipment receives capability reporting information sent by the terminal equipment in the process of initially accessing the network; the capability reporting information comprises second capability information;
The network device determines initial capability information of the terminal device based on the second capability information.
For example, the terminal device initiates an initial access procedure in an idle state, at this time, the terminal device is not connected with an external device, and the terminal device sends capability reporting information in the initial access procedure, which reports the second capability information of the capability of the terminal device. The network device takes the second capability information as the capability information of the terminal device. And then, in a connection state or a non-activation state, the terminal equipment is connected with the external equipment, the capacity is changed, at the moment, the terminal equipment does not need to return to an idle state to restart an initial access process, only the capacity update information is required to be sent, the first capacity information conforming to the current capacity is reported, and the network equipment can update the capacity information of the terminal equipment based on the first capacity information.
Optionally, the embodiment of the application further comprises a specific implementation manner of sending the capability update information by the terminal equipment in a connected state or a non-activated state.
Illustratively, the terminal device sending the capability update information to the network device may include:
the terminal equipment sends an update request to the network equipment in a connection state;
In the case of receiving response information for the update request from the network device, the terminal device transmits capability update information to the network device.
Accordingly, for a network device, before updating capability information of a terminal device based on first capability information, the capability indication method includes:
the network equipment receives an update request sent by the terminal equipment in a connection state;
The network device sends response information for the update request to the terminal device, and the response information is used for indicating the terminal device to send capability update information to the network device.
That is, in the connected state, the terminal device may first send an update request, and in the case that the network device responds, the terminal device sends capability update information to the network device, so that the network device updates the current terminal capability information recorded by the network device based on the first capability information. Optionally, the network device may also send information indicating that the terminal capability update is completed to the terminal device.
Illustratively, the terminal device sending the capability update information to the network device may include:
The terminal equipment sends network access information to the network equipment in an inactive state; wherein the network access information includes capability update information.
Accordingly, for a network device, before updating capability information of a terminal device based on first capability information, the capability indication method includes:
The network equipment receives network access information sent by the terminal equipment in an inactive state; wherein the network access information includes capability update information.
That is, in the inactive state, since the network device still stores the terminal capability information, the terminal device may access the network again, carry the capability update information in the network access information, and indicate or activate the first capability information with the capability update information, so that the network device updates the terminal capability information based on the first capability information.
It can be seen by combining one or more examples above that, according to the method of the embodiment of the present application, the terminal device updates the capability information of the terminal device by sending the capability update information to the network device, without restarting the initial access procedure and reporting again, so that connection interruption can be avoided, and continuity of the service is ensured.
It should be noted that, in an embodiment of the present application, one capability information may indicate one or more communication capabilities. In other words, the capability information is an information combination/set of a plurality of communication capabilities, and thus, the capability information may also be referred to as a capability combination. For example, the first capability information may include information of a power amplifier capability, the number of transceiving antennas, whether millimeter wave communication capability is supported, and the like.
The capability update information may be transmitted, for example, when the communication capability of the terminal changes. For example when the terminal device is connected to an external device. If the capability update information is transmitted when the terminal device is connected to the external device, the first capability information may include capability information of the external device or total capability information when the terminal device is connected to the external device. Here, the total capability information when the terminal device connects to the external device may be a sum of the communication capability of the terminal device itself and the communication capability of the external device.
Taking the example that the terminal device changes the terminal capability due to the connection with the external device, in the embodiment of the present application, the definition of the capability information may refer to the following example.
Example 1: in the case of not connecting an external device and connecting an external device, capability information of the terminal device is respectively: communication capability information of the terminal device itself (denoted as capability combination 1) and communication capability information of the external device (denoted as capability combination 2). For example, if the terminal device does not have millimeter wave communication capability and has 1 transmitting antenna, and the external device has millimeter wave communication capability and has 2 transmitting antennas, then: capability combination 1 may include a number of transmit antennas of 1, no support for millimeter wave communications, etc.; capability combination 2 may include a number of transmit antennas of 2, support for millimeter wave communications, and so on.
Example 2: the capability information of the terminal device is the communication capability of the terminal device itself (denoted as capability combination 1) and the total communication capability when the terminal device is connected to the external device (denoted as capability combination 2), respectively, in the case where the external device is not connected and the external device is connected. For example, if the terminal device does not have millimeter wave communication capability and has 1 transmitting antenna, and the external device has millimeter wave communication capability and has 2 transmitting antennas, then: capability combination 1 may include a number of transmit antennas of 1, no support for millimeter wave communications, etc.; capability combination 2 may include a number of transmit antennas of 3, support millimeter wave communications, and so on.
The network device may take different ways of updating the capability information for different definitions of the capability information.
Optionally, in a case where the first capability information is different from the capability information original to the terminal device, for example, when the first capability information includes supplementary capability information with respect to the capability information original to the terminal device, the capability update information is used to instruct the network device to determine that the first capability information is active. Accordingly, the network device updates capability information of the terminal device based on the first capability information, including: and the network equipment determines that the first capability information is activated under the condition that the first capability information is different from the original capability information of the terminal equipment.
The original capability information of the terminal equipment is the capability information of the terminal equipment before the capability updating information is sent, or the terminal capability information stored before the network equipment receives the capability updating information. The original capability information of the terminal device is illustratively second capability information, such as the default capability information or the capability information when the terminal device is not connected to an external device. When the first capability information is complementary to the second capability information, the terminal device indicates to the network device that the first capability information is active, i.e. the capability information of the terminal device at this time is the sum of the first capability information and the second capability information.
For example, the external device has millimeter wave communication capability, while the terminal device does not. After the external device is connected with the terminal, the terminal device additionally obtains millimeter wave communication capability and sends indication information of the millimeter wave communication capability to the network device, so that the network device determines that the millimeter wave communication capability of the terminal device is activated.
Optionally, in the case that the first capability information is partially the same as the capability information original to the terminal device, for example, when the first capability information and the capability information original to the terminal device include overlapped capability information, the capability update information is used to instruct the network device to combine the first capability information and the capability information original to the terminal device, so as to obtain the current capability information of the terminal device. Accordingly, the network device updates capability information of the terminal device based on the first capability information, including: and under the condition that the first capability information is partially the same as the original capability information of the terminal equipment, the network equipment combines the first capability information and the original capability information of the terminal equipment to obtain the current capability information of the terminal equipment.
The original capability information of the terminal device is illustratively second capability information, such as the default capability information or the capability information when the terminal device is not connected to an external device. When the first capability information and the second capability information comprise overlapped capability information, the terminal equipment indicates that the first capability information is activated to the network equipment so as to indicate that the first capability information and the second capability information are combined, and the capability information of the terminal equipment is the sum of the first capability information and the second capability information.
For example, the external device has 2 transmitting antenna communication capabilities, the terminal device itself has 1 transmitting antenna communication capability, when the external device is connected with the terminal device, the capability update information sent by the terminal device to the network device indicates the transmitting antenna communication capability of the external device, and the network device may determine that the total communication capability of the terminal device is 3 transmitting antenna communication capabilities based on the original 1 transmitting antenna communication capability of the terminal device and the 2 transmitting antenna communication capabilities of the external device.
For example, in case the first capability information is partially identical to the capability information inherent to the terminal device, for example in case the first capability information includes overlapping capability information with the capability information inherent to the terminal device, the capability update information is used to instruct the network device to use the first capability information as the current capability information of the terminal device. Accordingly, the network device updates capability information of the terminal device based on the first capability information, including:
In the case that the first capability information is partially identical to the original capability information of the terminal device, the network device uses the first capability information as current capability information of the terminal device.
The original capability information of the terminal device is illustratively second capability information, such as the default capability information or the capability information when the terminal device is not connected to an external device. When the first capability information and the second capability information include overlapping capability information, the terminal device indicates to the network device that the first capability information is active to indicate to replace the second capability with the second capability information as current capability information of the terminal device.
For example, the external device has 2 transmit antenna communication capabilities, and the terminal device itself has 1 transmit antenna communication capability. When the external device is connected to the terminal device, the transmitting antenna of the terminal device itself is no longer active, and communication is performed through the transmitting antenna of the external device. The capability update information sent by the terminal device to the network device indicates the transmitting antenna communication capability of the external device, and the network device can use 2 transmitting antenna communication capabilities of the external device to replace the original 1 transmitting antenna communication capability, so as to determine that the total communication capability of the terminal device is 3 transmitting antenna communication capabilities.
For another example, the external device has 2 transmit antenna communication capabilities and the terminal device itself has 1 transmit antenna communication capability. When the external device is connected with the terminal device, the total communication capacity of the terminal device is 3 transmitting antenna communication capacities. The capability update information sent by the terminal device to the network device indicates the total communication capability of the terminal device, and the network device may use the total communication capability (3 transmitting antenna communication capabilities) of the terminal device to replace the original 1 transmitting antenna communication capability.
In order to facilitate understanding of the capability indication method provided by the embodiments of the present application, several specific application examples are provided below for illustration. It will be appreciated that the combination of features in the following application examples is merely exemplary, and that in practical applications, other combinations of optional features in the embodiments of the present application may be used.
For example, in the following application examples, the terminal device may perform capability update in a connected state or an active state according to different application scenario situations.
Case 1: a plurality of groups of terminal communication capabilities, such as a capability combination 1 and a capability combination 2, are defined, wherein the capability combination 1 corresponds to the communication capability of the terminal itself, and the capability combination 2 is the communication capability of the external device.
Case 2: a plurality of groups of terminal communication capabilities, such as a capability combination 1 and a capability combination 2, are defined, wherein the capability combination 1 corresponds to the communication capability of the terminal itself, and the capability combination 2 is the total communication capability after the terminal is connected with an external device.
Application example one
In this application example, as shown in fig. 6, when the terminal initially accesses the network, the terminal reports the multiple sets of communication capabilities to the network.
One of the capability combinations is taken as a default capability combination, and the capability combination is taken as capability information of terminal communication under the condition that the terminal does not further instruct. Another combination of capabilities requires a further indication of the terminal to function.
When a certain condition is met, for example, when the terminal is connected with an external device, or when the terminal is connected with the external device and the current cell supports the communication capability of the external device, the terminal capability changes, as shown in fig. 6, the terminal reports RRC or physical layer indication information, and indicates to the base station to activate one of the reported multiple groups of capability.
In this case, different processing manners may be adopted according to different definitions of the relationships between the capability combination 1 and the capability combination 2 of the terminal, for example. Such as:
When the capability combination 2 is the complement of the capability combination 1, the terminal instructs the network that the capability combination 2 is active, that is, the capability of the terminal is the sum of the capability combination 1 and the capability combination 2.
● A typical example is that an external device has millimeter wave communication capability and a terminal does not have millimeter wave communication capability, and at this time, the terminal additionally obtains millimeter wave communication capability after the external device is connected to the terminal.
When the capability combination 2 and the capability combination 1 have overlapping communication capabilities, the terminal indicates the capability combination 2 to activate to the network, and the total capability processing mode of the terminal is as follows:
A. combining capability combination 1 and capability combination 2
● A typical example is that the external device has 2 transmit antenna communication capabilities, the terminal itself has 1 transmit antenna communication capability, and the total communication capability of the terminal is 3 transmit antennas when the external device is connected to the terminal.
B. capability combination 2 replaces capability combination 1
● A typical example is that the external device has 2 transmit antennas communication capabilities, the terminal itself has 1 transmit antenna communication capability, and when the external device is connected to the terminal, the transmit antenna of the terminal itself is no longer active, and communication is performed through the transmit antenna of the external device, i.e. the communication capability becomes 2 transmit antennas.
Thereafter, as shown in fig. 6, the network may schedule the terminals according to the new capabilities.
Application example two
In this application example, when the terminal initially accesses the network, only the capability combination 1 is reported, and then, under a certain condition (for example, when the terminal is connected to an external device, or when the terminal is connected to the external device and the current cell supports the communication capability of the external device), the capability combination 2 is further reported to the network.
The capability combination 2 can determine that the terminal capability is total capability information of the terminal after the terminal is connected to an external device. Terminal capabilities may also be determined in accordance with the above application examples.
In this application example, the capability update procedure of the terminal has the following two ways:
Mode 1: the terminal is in a connection state currently, and initiates a capability information updating process to update the capability information of the terminal stored in the network, for example, an external device is connected to the terminal in the connection state so as to trigger the terminal to update the capability information of the terminal. The specific update process is shown in fig. 7, namely, the terminal sends the terminal capability update request information to the base station; and the base station indicates that the terminal capability update is allowed, and the terminal performs the capability update. Optionally, the base station may also send acknowledgement information to the terminal to indicate that the terminal capability update is complete.
Mode 2: the terminal is currently in an inactive state (inactive state), and when the terminal accesses the network again, the terminal initiates a capability information updating process to update the capability information of the terminal stored in the network, for example, in the inactive state, an external device is connected to the terminal so as to trigger the terminal to update the capability information of the terminal. As shown in fig. 8, the terminal initiates initial access and carries terminal capability information in the inactive state, and after receiving this, the base station updates the stored terminal capability information and uses the new terminal capability information.
The specific arrangements and implementations of embodiments of the present application have been described above in terms of various embodiments. It can be seen that, by using the above at least one embodiment, the terminal device updates the capability information of the terminal device by sending the capability update information to the network device, without restarting the initial access procedure and reporting again, so that connection interruption can be avoided, and continuity of service is ensured.
