Throughout the specification, a "smoking article" may refer to an article capable of generating an aerosol, such as a cigarette (cigarette), cigar or the like. The smoking article may comprise an aerosol-generating substance or an aerosol-forming substrate. In addition, the smoking article may comprise a solid substance based on tobacco raw materials such as tobacco flakes, cut filler, reconstituted tobacco, and the like. The smoking material may comprise a volatile compound.
In addition, throughout the specification, "upstream" or "upstream direction" refers to a direction away from the user's mouth of a smoking article, and "downstream" or "downstream direction" refers to a direction closer to the user's mouth of a smoking article.
In one aspect, the expression "a or B" or "at least one of a or B" or the like may include any one of the listed items together, or all possible combinations thereof.
Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.
Referring to fig. 1, as an example, a smoking article 100 includes a filter rod 10 and a tobacco medium portion 20. When the tobacco medium part burns, tobacco smoke is generated, and the generated tobacco smoke enters the lungs of a smoker through the filter rod.
According to an embodiment of the invention, more than 2 filter rod portions may be included, in particular, 2 to 4 filter rod portions or 2 to 3 filter rod portions may be included. In addition, there is provided a filter rod for a smoking article, at least one of the 2 or more filter rod portions comprising 2 to 4 holes, preferably 3 holes.
For example, as shown in fig. 2, the filter rod 10 may include a first filter rod portion 11 and a second filter rod portion 13. The first filter rod portion 11 and the second filter rod portion 13 may be located on the proximal and distal (TE) sides, respectively. The first plug portion 11 may comprise a plurality of holes. Fig. 4 is a production image of such a filter rod.
In particular, the total length 15 of the filter rod may be 25mm to 30mm, preferably may be 27mm. The total length of the first filter rod portion 11 may be 5mm to 12mm, preferably 9mm. The total length of the second plug portion 13 may be 15mm to 22mm, preferably 18mm.
Referring to fig. 3, in a filter rod for a smoking article according to an embodiment of the present invention, the pore diameter 17 of the cross section of the filter rod portion 11 including a plurality of pores is 1mm or more and 2mm or less, preferably 1.6mm or more and 1.7mm or less.
When the pore diameter is less than 1mm, problems occur in manufacturing the filter rod. Specifically, in the manufacture of filter rods, the rods are inserted under high temperature and pressure conditions to create holes in the filter rods. At this time, if the thickness of the rod is reduced to less than 1mm, it is difficult to produce holes having a uniform diameter at the time of filter rod molding.
In a filter rod for a smoking article according to an embodiment of the invention, the outer wall thickness 19 may be 0.7mm or more and 1.3mm or less, preferably 1.05mm or more and 1.15mm or less for the aperture, and is based on the shortest distance of the outer wall of the filter rod to the aperture. Also, in view of a preferred size of the holes (e.g., 1.0 mm), it is preferable that the centers of the holes be formed at a position of 1.5mm or more from the outer wall of the filter rod.
This is because the manufactured filter rod needs to be cut during the cigarette manufacturing process, and if the outer wall thickness 19 of the filter rod is thin, problems of breakage of the outer wall may occur.
Meanwhile, the second filter rod portion 13 may be a filter rod including at least one of cellulose acetate, carbon, or paper, or a combination thereof. Preferably, when the first plug portion comprises a plurality of apertures, it may be a cellulosic plug or a polymeric plug. But is not limited thereto.
The filter rod is wrapped by filter rod paper. The tipping paper is paper that joins the cigarette and filter rod and is formed with perforations. Perforations act to dilute the smoke constituents of the product by increasing the dilution rate of the tobacco. Perforations may be formed at a distance of 10.5mm to 11mm from the proximal end. Thus, perforations may be located in the second plug section 13, and the plug wrap of the second plug section 13 may be porous.
The circumference of the filter rod 10 for a smoking article according to an embodiment of the present invention may be 15mm or more and 25mm or less, and preferably may be 16.7mm or more and 24.2mm or less. For example, the circumference of the filter rod may be 24.2mm for a normal cigarette, 21.7mm for a slim cigarette, and 16.7mm for an ultra slim cigarette.
The filter rod 10 for a smoking article according to an embodiment of the invention may have a suction resistance of 50mmH 2 Above O/Tip and 150mmH 2 O/Tip or below. When (when)The suction resistance is less than 50mmH 2 When O/Tip is adopted, the filtering effect is excessively reduced; when greater than 150mmH 2 At O/Tip, the inhalation is reduced, making it difficult for the user to inhale the aerosol.
The filter rod may include a flavoring. The flavoring agent may be at least one selected from the group consisting of peppermint, chocolate, cocoa, coffee, licorice, coriander, vanillin, ethyl vanillin, maltol, ethyl maltol, eucalyptol, acetic acid (Acetic acid), breath fresheners (fresh color), bergamot oil, rosemary, geranium oil, lemon oil, orange oil, lime oil, grapefruit oil, peppermint oil, ginger oil, isosweet (isosweet), and fruit flavor ingredients, but is not limited to the above listed types.
Meanwhile, a smoking article 100 according to an embodiment of the invention may comprise the filter rod 10. The resulting tobacco smoke may be filtered through a filter rod to remove smoke constituents, typically with the distal filter rod portion having a high capacity for removing smoke constituents.
The smoking article 100 may be a combustible cigarette or a heated (non-combustible) type cigarette, but is not limited thereto.
The smoking article may comprise a tobacco media portion and a wrapper.
The tobacco medium portion generally includes a tobacco material containing nicotine such as tobacco leaf, and may additionally include a binder, other additives, and excipients such as the above-mentioned flavoring agents, and as an example, the tobacco medium included in the tobacco medium portion of the present invention may be in the form of particles containing tobacco material, excipients, and the like.
The tobacco leaf may be at least one selected from yellow-colored tobacco leaves, burley tobacco leaves, oriental tobacco leaves, cigar tobacco leaves, and cured tobacco leaves, but is not limited thereto.
The present invention will be described in more detail with reference to examples, but the present invention is not limited to the following examples.
Filter stick design
Example 1
A filter rod for a smoking article is manufactured comprising a first filter rod portion and a second filter rod portion. The first filter rod portion was 15mm in length, formed with three holes, and contained acetate tow. The second filter rod portion was 12mm in length and contained carbon.
Example 2
A filter rod for a smoking article was manufactured in the same manner as in example 1, except that the length of the first filter rod portion was 9mm and the length of the second filter rod portion was 18mm.
Comparative example 1
A filter rod for a smoking article was manufactured in the same manner as in example 1, except that no hole was formed in the first filter rod portion.
Comparative example 2
A filter rod for a smoking article was manufactured in the same manner as in example 1, except that one hole was formed in the first filter rod portion.
Comparative example 3
A filter rod for a smoking article was manufactured in the same manner as in example 1, except that the first filter rod portion was formed with one hole, and the first filter rod portion had a length of 9mm and the second filter rod portion had a length of 18mm.
The filter rod designs of comparative examples 1 to 3 and examples 1, 2 are specified in table 1 below.
TABLE 1
In the above table, ME denotes a first filter rod portion located at the proximal end, and TE denotes a second filter rod portion located at the distal end.
The inhalation resistance of example 1 was increased by 8.75mmH as compared with that of comparative example 1 2 O/Tip, suction resistance of example 2 increased by 47.75mmH 2 O/Tip. That is, the suction resistance of example 2 was higher than that of example 1, which means that the suction resistance was increased when using the 9+18mm system, compared to the system in which the first filter rod portion and the second filter rod portion were 15+12 mm. And implementationUnlike example 1, in example 2 the length of the first plug portion is 9mm, whereas the perforations are typically located 10.5mm to 11mm from the proximal end, which allows the perforations to be located in the second plug portion. Therefore, in embodiment 2, the air flowing in from the perforations passes through the first filter rod portion after passing through the second filter rod portion, thereby increasing the suction resistance.
Physical properties of filter rods
The physical properties of the filter rods of comparative examples 1 to 3, and examples 1 and 2 were measured as shown in table 2 below.
TABLE 2
Trial product design for smoking articles
The design specifications of the smoking articles to which the comparative examples 1 to 3 and examples 1 and 2 were applied are shown in table 3 below.
TABLE 3
Experimental example 1: analysis of mainstream smoke constituents of smoking articles
The mainstream smoke components of the smoking articles to which the comparative examples 1 to 3 and examples 1 and 2 were applied were analyzed, and the results are shown in table 4.
TABLE 4
Example 2 compared to comparative example 1, the TPM value was reduced by 0.59mg/cig, the tar value was reduced by 0.38mg/cig, and the nicotine value was reduced by 0.03mg/cig.
When the first and second filter rod portions are 9+18mm systems, the transfer of TPM, tar and nicotine is greatly reduced compared to 15+12mm systems. Particularly when the first and second filter rod portions were 9+18mm systems, tar and nicotine content was significantly reduced by 23.1% to 24.4%, and 11.8% to 17.6%, respectively, as compared to comparative example 1. This is because the 9+18mm system has a suction resistance greater than that of the 15+12mm system, and the smoke component removal efficiency is generally higher on the second filter rod portion side at the distal end.
Experimental example 2: sensory evaluation of reduced hand smoke effect when applied to filter sticks
To demonstrate the effect of reducing the smoke taste of the hands when using the filter rod of the present invention, sensory evaluation was performed by putting cotton gloves on the finger area during smoking and confirming the intensity of smoke taste perceived after smoking for 1 hour. Immediately after smoking, the cotton glove was sealed and stored in a sample bag. The intensity of smoke is compared with that of common cloth.
Sensory evaluation was performed on the smoking articles using the filter rods of comparative examples 1 and 2, and panelists were 15 persons total, which were divided into 9 points.
The sensory evaluation results are shown in table 5 and table 6 below. Table 5 shows statistics of the corresponding samples, and table 6 shows inspection results of the corresponding samples.
TABLE 5
Differentiation of N Average odor intensity Standard deviation of Average standard error
Comparative example 1 15 5.033 2.3939 .6181
Example 2 15 2.600 1.6605 .4287
TABLE 6
The sensory properties were analyzed after smoking, and as a result, the smoking article of application example 2 showed a significant reduction in off-flavor of 48.3% compared to the smoking article of application comparative example 1. When air flows in through the perforations, the mainstream smoke is generally concentrated in the center of the filter rod, whereas in the smoking article of application example 2, the mainstream smoke can flow out through 3 holes, so that the smoke taste of the hands can be reduced.
According to experimental examples 1 and 2, when the multiple holes of example 2 and the smoking article of the 9+18mm system were employed, it was possible to reduce the smoke component such as tar, nicotine, etc., while reducing the hand smoke flavor.
In summary, while the embodiments have been described with respect to a limited number of embodiments and drawings, those skilled in the art will appreciate that many modifications and variations may be made to the above description. For example, the described techniques may be performed in a different order than the described methods, and/or the described components may be combined or combined in a different manner than the described methods, or other components or equivalents may be substituted or replaced to achieve the same effects.
Thus, other embodiments, other examples, and equivalents of the claims are intended to be within the scope of the claims.
