The relevant content related to the present application will be described first.
1. LoCation Service (LoCat Service, LCS)
The location services are performed and provided in the core network by network elements such as AMF and location management functions (Location Management Function, LMF). LCS messages are interacted between a UE and an LCS client (client) or AF, and a more typical procedure is a mobile terminal location request (Mobile Terminated Location Request, MT-LR).
The MT-LR process is initiated by an external third party application (LCS client) or by AF via NEF network elements, and finally obtains the position information of the UE via network elements such as a network management mobile positioning center (Gateway Mobile Location Centre, GMLC), AMF, LMF and the like.
The LCS architecture is shown in fig. 2.
2. NW DAF and LCS interactions
When the existing network data analysis function (Network Data Analytics Function, NWDAF) acquires positioning information of a terminal, the existing scheme is that the NWDAF acquires the position of the terminal from an AMF through an AMF interface; another approach is now under investigation, where the NWDAF obtains the location of the terminal through the GMLC to LCS architecture.
3. Area event based location reporting in positioning
In the LCS request, the LCS client or AF may provide a description of a certain area to the GMLC, and the LCS architecture is requested to provide the location of the UE to the LCS client or AF when the UE is within the target area (including entering, staying, leaving). The descriptions provided by LCS clients and AF include geographical area description shape (Geographical Area Description, GAD shape) and specific parameters, for example, if the GAD shape is a Polygon (Polygon), the LCS clients provide coordinates of at least 3 points and up to 15 points, as shown in fig. 3, which is a schematic diagram of a Polygon. Thus, a certain area is explicitly indicated. This shape may also be elliptical or of another type.
4. Target area description
Referring to TS 23.032, encoding information of shape, the following table:
coding information of table 1 shape (Coding of Type of Shape)
Fig. 4 is a schematic diagram illustrating the shape of a polygon.
5. Signaling flow based on area event location reporting
As shown in fig. 5, the signaling flow based on area event location reporting includes the following steps:
step 1.LCS clients or AFs access Home gateway mobile location center (Home GMLC, H-GMLC) through NEF, initiate service request to LCS system, request periodic or triggered location reporting. In the request, the LCS client carries the category of periodic or triggered location reports and related parameters. The categories include terminal reachability (UE availability), area, periodic positioning (periodic location), motion (motion). For event reporting based on area, the LCS service request message carries the detailed information of the rest of geography, whether the UE enters, stays and leaves the area for reporting, the duration of reporting, the interval between two successful reporting, the maximum sampling interval, whether the position estimation is carried in the reporting message, and whether one or more reporting is needed. If the target area is represented as a local location coordinate or a geographic name, the H-GMLC converts the target area into a geographic area expressed in shape.
Step 2.H-GMLC confirms the privacy check of the UE, and timely obtains changes in the UE privacy information by obtaining updates to the UE privacy information from the UDM.
Step 3. The H-GMLC obtains the address of the AMF from the UDM.
Step 4.H-GMLC triggers a location request to the Visited gateway mobile location center (V-GMLC), which can be skipped if the UE is under H-GMLC.
Step 5.H-GMLC or V-GMLC initiates a location request to a service (serving) AMF. For area-based event reporting, the target geographic area is mapped to a list of cell or TA identities.
Step 6-8. If the AMF supports the periodic or triggered deferred location reporting, the AMF returns an acknowledgement to the LCS client or AF.
Step 9. If the UE is not currently reachable, e.g. using extended discontinuous reception (extended Discontinuous Reception, eDRX), the AMF waits for the UE to be reachable.
Step 10. Until the UE is reachable, if the UE is in a connection management (Connection Management, CM) idle (idle) state, the AMF initiates a network triggered location request procedure (e.g., section TS 23.502 4.2.3.3) to establish the UE and network side signaling connection.
Step 11-12.Amf informs UE of location request and related privacy check requirements, category of periodic or triggered location reporting, etc.
Step 13.AMF performs LMF selection procedure, selecting one LMF to perform delay location request task.
Step 14.AMF sends request message to LMF to locate delay position. For all types of events, this message will carry LCS association identifier, AMF identifier, service cell identifier, client type, possibly indication information if the UE supports LTE positioning protocol (LTE Positioning Protocol, LPP) message, desired quality of service (required Quality of Service, required QoS) and geographical area description type.
The lmf performs one or more positioning procedures, requesting and acquiring the location of the UE.
Step 16, for the delayed location report, the LMF sends a supplementary LCS periodic or triggered request to the UE through the serving AMF, where the request carries the location request message obtained from the AMF by the LMF in step 14, to inform the UE to subsequently execute the corresponding delayed periodic or triggered location report.
Step 17. If the UE supports the request in step 16, the UE returns an acknowledgement message to the LMF.
Steps 18-21. If the UE supports the request, the LMF informs LCS client via AMF, GMLC, which information may include UE positioning capability, etc.
Step 22, for the position report based on the area event, the UE monitors whether the related area event is triggered in a sampling interval or less. And (3) the UE judges whether the UE enters the list of the cell or TA mark mapped in the step (5) or not by detecting the information such as the cell ID in the SIB message of the cell, if so, the UE enters the target area, and if so, the UE performs position report based on the area event. For a regional event or a motion event, the UE monitors the requested event at an interval equal to or less than the maximum event sampling interval. The UE detects an event trigger when either: (i) The requested regional event or movement event has been detected and a minimum reporting time interval has elapsed since the last report (if this is not the first event report) (ii) the requested periodic location event has occurred; (iii) The maximum reporting time for a regional event or a motion event has expired. When a trigger or periodic event is detected and if the UE resides or connects (or otherwise accesses) to the LMF-allowed access type at step 16, the UE proceeds to step 23. If the UE cannot access the allowed access according to the requirements received from the LMF at step 16, the UE may skip reporting the trigger event or may report the trigger event when the allowed access type becomes available. When providing a scheduled positioning time for a periodic positioning request, the ue should perform steps 23-25 at a time before the predetermined location time of the first periodic event report or a time before the expiration of the periodic interval of each subsequent periodic event report, in step 16, so as to occur in the vicinity of each of these times at step 23 or step 27, respectively.
Step 23. The ue gets the location measurement information or the requested or allowed location estimation information in step 16.
Step 24. If the UE is in CM idle state, the UE performs a service request (service request) procedure to establish an N1 signaling connection with the AMF.
And 25. The UE sends a supplementary event report message to the AMF corresponding to the LMF, and finally the message is sent to the LMF, wherein the AMF transparently transmits the message. Where the message may carry an event type and an embedded LPP message carrying location estimation information.
The LMF accepts and processes event reporting, updates the status of the time reporting (e.g., number of reports so far, reporting duration, etc.), and returns an acknowledgement message to the UE.
Step 27. If the event report requires location estimation information, the LMF may perform one or more positioning procedures. The LMF determines the location of the UE using the measurement information and/or the location estimate, and timestamp information is also determined.
Step 28-30.LMF performs event reporting to LCS client through GMLC, and reports UE position to LCS client.
Step 31. The ue continuously monitors for subsequent events.
The related art supports the LCS client or AF to request location reporting of a target area based on an area event, and also supports the LCS client or AF to provide a detailed description of the target area (e.g., point coordinates of a polygon, parameters of an ellipse, etc.). But when executed, the public land mobile network (Public Land Mobile Network, PLMN) (precisely GMLC) will inform the UE of the identity describing the target area as a series of cells or TAs, and will report its own location when the UE comes within range of a cell or TA. That is, the description of the target area obtained by the UE is a description of the cell or TA, and is not a description of the specific target area shape, which may cause the following problems:
First, there are some problems of reporting the edges of the target area, there are many scenarios at some cell edges or block edges, fig. 6 is a schematic diagram of the area and the coverage of the cell, and as shown in fig. 6, the delimited target area is actually a rectangle, and the rectangle is composed of coordinates of four points, only the UE position in the rectangular area is significant for LCS clients. Thus, the positions of point 1 and point2 need to be reported, but the position of point 3 is located outside the edge of the target area, although it is in cell 3, and is not in our area, and does not need to be reported.
Next, for the target area scenario shown in fig. 7, where fig. 7 is a schematic diagram of a target area, a large statistical area has a subsurface or closed area, and the target area is shown as a shaded portion. Point 1 and point2 are in area, and need to report the position of the UE, but point 3 in a blank area does not need to report, and the network or a third party does not need to consider the UE in the blank area, and the UE does not need to report its position in the blank area. But currently there is no way to precisely inform the UE of irregular areas as described in fig. 7, which we refer to as hollow areas for the moment.
Aiming at the mentioned scenes of irregular areas and inconsistent shapes of target areas and cell areas which are actually deployed, the method has strong requirements in some scenes such as space statistics, advertisement browsing user statistics and the like. How to reduce unnecessary location reporting and provide a richer target area description is not currently contemplated in The third generation partnership project (The 3rd Generation Partnership Project,3GPP) standard.
The position reporting method, the terminal and the network side device provided by the embodiment of the application are described in detail below by means of some embodiments and application scenes thereof with reference to the accompanying drawings.
Fig. 8 is a schematic flow chart of a location reporting method according to an embodiment of the present application. As shown in fig. 8, the method is applied to a first communication device including, but not limited to, one of: LCS clients, third party applications, core Network (CN) network elements (such as, but not limited to NWDAF).
The method comprises the following steps:
step 800, the first communication device sends a first message to the second communication device.
The first message is used for requesting position reporting based on event triggering, and the first message carries description information of the target area and/or execution attribute of the target area.
In the embodiment of the present application, the description information of the target area may refer to the foregoing table 1 and related parameters. The execution attribute of the target area is used to indicate whether event detection is based on the target area or the cell/TA level.
Optionally, the execution attribute of the target area includes at least one of:
a) The type of execution;
the execution type is used for indicating the type of reporting the execution position of the terminal.
Optionally, the execution type includes at least one of:
1) Reporting based on a cell or tracking area TA mechanism;
it should be noted that, reporting based on the cell or tracking area TA mechanism means that the terminal may report the location according to the cell or tracking area TA corresponding to the target area. The detailed flow may be described with reference to the aforementioned location reporting signaling flow based on area events.
Optionally, if the first communication device wishes the UE to report according to the Cell-based or TA mechanism, the first communication device may not carry this information (i.e. the type of execution) or carry this information, and if this information is carried, it explicitly characterizes that the UE reports according to the Cell-based or TA mechanism.
2) Reporting according to the description information of the target area;

The terminal can report based on a cell or tracking area TA mechanism, and can report according to the description information of the target area.
In one implementation manner, if the first communication device wants the UE to switch between the two execution types according to its own capabilities and will, the first communication device explicitly characterizes the UE to execute multiple types of reporting in this information, either according to a cell-based or TA mechanism or strictly according to a target area description.
b) Performing precision;
the execution precision is used for indicating an error range of the terminal execution position report, and the error range is relative to the edge of the target area.
In the case where the first communication apparatus desires the UE to report or perform multiple types of reporting according to the description information of the target area, the execution accuracy is optionally provided.
For example, when the execution precision indicates 10 meters, the terminal may report its own position within 10 meters outside the edge of the target area when reporting according to the description information of the target area.
It should be noted that if the execution precision indicates 0 or is not carried, it means that the location reporting is executed only when the UE location is strictly within the target area.
Optionally, the description information of the target area includes at least one of the following:
the shape of the target area;

One implementation is a triangular target area formed by three actual longitude and latitude coordinate points which are not on a straight line. Another implementation is an area formed by a bridge to a tower to a hospital C, the target area is formed by an actual geographic name or a local coordinate with coarser granularity, and the coordinate point parameter can be represented by any point coordinate or bridge name on the bridge a (same tower B and hospital C).

It will be appreciated that the target region includes an inner region and an outer region, the outer region being the region encompassed by the outer contour of the target region and the inner region being the region encompassed by the inner contour of the target region as illustrated in fig. 9.
The coordinate point parameter of the target area may include one or more shapes of the outer area, for example, the shape of one outer area may be one of a polygon, a circle, an ellipse, and the like.
The coordinate point parameters of the target region may also include coordinate point parameters corresponding to the shape of one or more outer regions, which may be used to describe the shape of the outer region, e.g., the target region includes an outer region, the shape of the outer region being an ellipse, and the coordinate point parameters of the target region include coordinate point parameters used to describe the ellipse.
The coordinate point parameters of the target region may also include the shape of one or more interior regions, for example, the shape of one interior region may be one of a polygon, a circle, an ellipse, and the like.
The coordinate point parameters of the target region may also include coordinate point parameters corresponding to the shape of one or more interior regions, which may be used to describe the shape of the interior region.
The coordinate point parameters of the target region may also include an indication that one or more interior regions are located inside an exterior region, the indication being used to characterize that the interior regions are located inside the exterior region.
The implementation mode of the coordinate point parameter comprises at least one of the following: global longitude and latitude coordinate parameters, global altitude parameters, local longitude and latitude coordinate parameters, local altitude parameters, local coordinate parameters, local altitude parameters, and actual geographic names.

It can be understood that the terminal receives a list of cell or tracking area TA identifiers corresponding to the description information of the target area sent by the third communication device, or receives a list of cell or tracking area TA identifiers corresponding to the description information of the target area sent by the fourth communication device.
The list of cell or tracking area TA identifiers corresponding to the description information of the target area is determined by the second communication device under the condition that the first condition is met.
It should be noted that, the list of cell or tracking area TA identifiers corresponding to the description information of the target area is the list of cell or tracking area TA identifiers obtained by converting the description information of the target area.
In one expression mode, if the target area is a square area, a minimum set formed by one or more cell or tracking area TA identifiers capable of covering the target square area is the corresponding cell or TA identifier list.

2) The method comprises the steps that under the condition that an execution attribute of a target area characterizes a terminal to report according to description information of the target area and the terminal cannot acquire the current position of the terminal, the terminal detects whether to enter a cell or a TA in a list of cell or tracking area TA identifiers corresponding to the description information of the target area, if the terminal enters, the terminal executes event report once, otherwise, the terminal does not execute event report;
3) The method comprises the steps that under the condition that an execution attribute of a target area characterizes a terminal to report according to description information of the target area and the terminal cannot acquire the current position of the terminal, the terminal sends a fourth message to fourth communication equipment, wherein the fourth message is used for requesting auxiliary terminal positioning;
optionally, the fourth message includes at least one of:
description information of the target area;
and the first indication information is used for requesting the network to assist in judging whether the terminal is in the target area.
It can be understood that, when the UE cannot acquire the current accurate geographic location, the UE carries, in the fourth message, first indication information for requesting the network to assist in determining whether the terminal is in the target area, where the fourth message includes description information of the target area, and after the LMF acquires the UE location through the positioning procedure, the LMF is used for assisting in determining whether the terminal is in the target area by combining the description information of the target area after the fourth communication device acquires the terminal location.
Optionally, the fourth message further includes at least one of:
terminal identification, for example, UE ID, SUPI, etc. identification;
a second event type, the second event type comprising at least one of: entering an area, staying in an area, leaving an area or other type of event;

After receiving the fourth message, the fourth communication device replies a confirmation message, when the third condition is met, triggers or executes a positioning process, obtains the position information of the terminal, compares the obtained position information of the terminal with the target area, and updates the event reporting state and executes one event reporting if the terminal is in the target area. If the terminal is not in the target area, the position report is not executed, and the event report state is kept unchanged.
4) And executing event reporting under the condition that the execution attribute characterization terminal of the target area is reported based on a cell or TA mechanism and the terminal is in a cell or TA in a list of cell or TA identifiers corresponding to the target area.

When the UE is under the cell or the TA, but the UE cannot acquire the current accurate geographic position, the UE sends a fourth message to the network side to request the network side to assist the UE to locate.
In the embodiment of the application, the terminal judges whether to execute event reporting by receiving the description information of the target area and/or the execution attribute of the target area and judging whether the geographic position of the terminal is in the target area or not, or sends the indication information to the network to request the network to assist in completing judging whether to be in the target area or not, so that unnecessary position reporting can be reduced, and the cost of the terminal and the network signaling is saved.
