Description

Method and device for scheduling tape drives with backup strategy
Technical Field

Background
Currently, nbu (backup system) is mainly adopted as centralized backup software in the prior art, and tape library media are adopted to store backup data. According to the environment architecture of nbu, backups are divided into three layers, namely a main control server, a medium server and a client. The main control server is mainly responsible for backup strategy and backup task scheduling, the client is data to be backed up, the medium server is a main backup server, and the tape drive is configured on the medium server, so that the data can be written into the tape drive from the client to the backup medium server. Tape drives are typically distributed to backup media servers in logical tape library units, because nbu centralizes the SSO of the tape provided by the backup software, i.e., tape sharing functionality, meaning that a set of logical tape libraries (a set of tape drives with similar functionality) can be distributed to multiple media servers by a colleague. And the backup strategy can be backed up by using the logic tape library downloaded by the media server after being distributed to the media server. It also means that a single tape drive can back up policies for multiple media servers for invocation.
The inventors have found that conventionally, this approach can make maximum use of tape drive resources. But the production backup tasks are huge, and the magnetic tape drive contention can occur. In particular, when the tape drive is used for a special purpose, the tape drive cannot be called for the special purpose because the tape drive is allocated to the medium server.

Detailed Description
For the purposes of making the objects, technical solutions and advantages of the embodiments of the present application more clear, the technical solutions in the embodiments of the present application will be clearly and completely described below with reference to the drawings in the embodiments of the present application, and it is apparent that the described embodiments are some embodiments of the present application, but not all embodiments. All other embodiments, which can be made by one of ordinary skill in the art based on the embodiments herein without making any inventive effort, are intended to be within the scope of the present application.
The data acquisition, storage, use, processing and the like in the technical scheme meet the relevant regulations of national laws and regulations.
Considering the huge production backup tasks in the prior art, tape drive contention can occur. Particularly, when the media server is used for special purposes, the tape drive is allocated to the media server, and can not be called according to the special purposes; generating a corresponding scheduling policy table according to the backup media server and the backup policy logic tape library; and starting or disabling the state of the tape drive on the media server according to the scheduling policy table and the backup software command line interface, so that special tape drive resources can be provided for special policies under the condition of resource contention.
In order to provide special tape drive resources for a special policy in the case of resource contention, the present application provides an embodiment of a backup policy tape drive scheduling method, referring to fig. 1, where the backup policy tape drive scheduling method specifically includes the following contents:
step S101: receiving a required backup strategy, and determining a corresponding backup media server and a backup strategy logic tape library according to the required backup strategy;
optionally, the application may set a requirement module to receive a requirement backup policy, where the requirement module may set a requirement table, and the fields of the requirement table are: demand category, demand object, tape object category, object name.
The demand categories may include: backup policies or backup media servers.
The tape object categories include: logical tape libraries and tape drives. The relevant requirements may be entered by an administrator or automatically by an automated program.
Notably, tape objects generally do not suggest selecting tape drives because other policies on the backup media server may require the use of all tape drives, which is easily counter-productive. Is used when no special requirement exists.
Alternatively, the present application may begin reading the contents of the demand module on a regular daily basis. The demand modules are processed one by one, and the nbu system is queried through the nbu command line interface. And checking the backup media server according to the required backup strategy. If the backup strategy is not involved, this step is skipped. And acquiring a corresponding logic tape library according to the required tape drive, and skipping the step if the tape drive is not involved. All backup media servers with them are obtained from tape drives or logical tape libraries. If the obtained corresponding relation is zero, or the obtained backup media server does not contain the backup media server in the demand, reporting an error and notifying an administrator to process. The required logical tape library is ensured to be online through the tape drive logical tape library and nbu command line interface. No abnormality.
Step S102: generating a corresponding scheduling policy table according to the backup media server and the backup policy logic tape library;
optionally, the present application may initialize a scheduling policy table before starting the round robin, where the fields are tape drive, backup media server, scheduling actions. The scheduling policy table is written to the tape drive and the backup media server for which the demand is desired. The scheduling action is enabled. A backup media server for which the logical tape library is not in the demand table writes the tape drive and the related backup media server record pair to the scheduling policy table with the scheduling actions disabled. And after the completion, comparing the record of the round with the record before, if the record of the round does not accord with the record of the round, for example, the record of the round is deleted, the round is skipped, and the manager is informed of the related requirement of the round, wherein the record of the round is written in the record of the round if the record of the round does not accord with the record of the round, for example, the record of the round is started or forbidden for a tape drive and a backup media server. And (3) recording and analyzing all written scheduling policy tables, counting the related backup media servers, and confirming that all standby conditions exist below the backup media servers. If the backup media server is completely shut down, the description is abnormal. The record written in the round is deleted, the round is skipped, and the administrator is informed of the need related to the round.
