Description

System, method, vehicle and program product for providing pre-warning information to a target object
Technical Field
The present invention relates to an early warning system for providing early warning information to one or more target objects, in particular vulnerable road users, followed by a vehicle. The invention also relates to an early warning method for providing early warning information to one or more target objects, in particular vulnerable road users, followed by a vehicle. Furthermore, the invention relates to a vehicle and a computer program product.
Background
With the development of assisted driving/automatic driving technology, the requirement for manual intervention of the driver is becoming lower and lower in the running of the vehicle. Especially if road conditions and/or weather conditions allow, even without any intervention by the driver. In this case, the driver and the passengers can leave the vehicle and perform other activities. At this point, the vehicle is able to follow or accompany the relevant person (e.g., cyclist) and maintain a safe distance therefrom. However, the front may be hidden from view, such as slippery road surfaces, dangerous turns, traffic jams, and the like. In this case, it is desirable that the relevant person can be informed, in particular in advance, of such danger and can thus cope in time.
Disclosure of Invention
The invention is based on the task of providing an early warning system which enables a vehicle to recognize a front hazard and to provide early warning information about the front hazard to a road user (Vulnerable Road Users, VRU), in particular to a road user with a weakness that the vehicle follows or accompanies, so that the road user can learn about the front hazard in particular early time and take countermeasures, thus improving road traffic safety.
The proposed task is solved by an early warning system for providing early warning information to one or more target objects, in particular vulnerable road users, which are followed by a vehicle, an early warning method for providing early warning information to one or more target objects, in particular vulnerable road users, which are followed by a vehicle, a vehicle and a computer program product.

Detailed Description
An exemplary flow chart of an early warning method 1 according to the invention for providing early warning information to a target object followed by a vehicle is schematically shown in fig. 1.
In step S1, first information about a potential hazard ahead of the vehicle is acquired. The potential hazards are, for example, slippery roads, traffic jams, traffic accidents, curves, etc. Accordingly, the first information indicates the presence of these potential hazards or information directly or indirectly related to these potential hazards, such as road surface slip factor, average speed of the relevant vehicle (preceding vehicle), turn-on of emergency lights, road markings (or turning of the relevant vehicle), etc.
Optionally, in step S3, second information about a target object followed or accompanied by the vehicle is acquired. Illustratively, the target object is a VRU, such as a pedestrian, a cyclist, a motorcyclist, or the like.
In step S5, a risk index for the target object for the potential risk is determined based on the first information and additionally based on the second information. Here, the risk index qualitatively or quantitatively indicates a road traffic condition affecting a target object running operation (e.g., running speed, braking operation, steering operation). Further, in step S5, in case the risk index indicates that the potential risk has an influence on the target object, in particular in case the risk index is larger than the risk index threshold, pre-warning information about the potential risk is provided to the target object for reminding and guiding if necessary. Such early warning information can be achieved by visual, audible and/or tactile means.
In summary, in particular based on V2X communication, the potential hazards located in front of the vehicle are known and forwarded in advance, so that the VRU followed or accompanied by the vehicle can thereby learn the potential hazards in advance and take corresponding countermeasures, such as slowing down, detouring or changing the driving route, etc., greatly reducing the risk of an accident.
An exemplary block diagram of an early warning system 10 for providing early warning information to a target object followed by a vehicle in accordance with the present invention is schematically illustrated in fig. 2. The early warning system 10 includes an information acquisition module 11, a control module 12, and an information providing module 13.
An exemplary application scenario of the early warning method 1/early warning system 10 according to the invention is schematically shown in fig. 3. Here, the vehicle 100 is a driving-assist/autonomous driving vehicle equipped with the warning system 10, the cyclist 200 is a target object with which the vehicle 100 accompanies, which is equipped with a mobile phone and with which a communication connection is established with the vehicle 100, and the front vehicle 300 is a related vehicle equipped or not equipped with a V2V communication system and is currently in a traffic congestion state as indicated by a broken-line circle.
The solution according to the invention is explained in more detail below in connection with fig. 2 and 3.
The information acquisition module 11 may be further divided into a first information acquisition module 11-1 and a second information acquisition module 11-2.
The first information acquisition module 11-1 is for acquiring first information about potential hazards in front of the vehicle. For example, the first information acquisition module 11-1 is configured as a vehicle communication module for realizing V2X communication, which is capable of receiving first information from an infrastructure, other vehicles, or a cloud server, etc., such as occurrence of traffic jam, traffic accident, etc., in front, as it receives first information on traffic jam as shown by an arrow from the front vehicle 300 to the vehicle 100 in fig. 3. By means of the vehicle communication module 11-1, information about potential hazards can thus be acquired within a first range of action which is significantly greater than the range of visibility of the vehicle or its components (e.g. camera, radar, etc.) themselves, which is limited, for example, by the viewing distance of the components themselves or by obstruction by obstacles, by a front curve or ramp, etc. Additionally, the first information acquisition module 11-1 is configured as a detection module, such as a camera, a laser radar, for example, for detecting a vehicle of interest, such as a preceding vehicle (whether or not an emergency light is turned on) and a road condition (a road marking line or a road sign characterizing a curve, a ramp, or the like). Further, the first information acquisition module 11-1 is optionally configured to extract the first information (e.g., there is a sharp curve in the current lane 5km ahead) from the stored map and/or to receive weather information (e.g., raining, snowing, fogging, etc.).
The second information acquisition module 11-2 is for acquiring second information about the target object 200, i.e., the following VRU. The second information acquisition module 11-2 is here, for example, configured as a detection module, such as a camera, radar, lidar, etc., in order to identify and/or track the VRU, for example, to acquire the travel speed of the VRU, whether the VRU is currently on a downhill road. In addition, the second information acquisition module 11-2 is configured as a vehicle communication module which can request the target object (or its mobile telephone) in real time or retrieve the driving dynamics of the vehicle of the VRU, such as in particular the braking performance, from a stored target object database.
Based on the first information and additionally also based on the second information, the control module 12 can determine a risk index for the target object 200 for potential hazards (e.g., traffic congestion, sharp turns, etc.).
Here, the control module 12 can classify the first information and then determine the category of the warning information, respectively, according to the classification. In one example, if a potential hazard occurs that affects travel speed and/or braking operation, such as traffic congestion, road surface slippery, related vehicle lane changes, etc., the pre-warning information can be reminder information and/or guidance information, thereby reminding the cyclist 200 to notice a forward road condition and/or guiding the cyclist 200 to slow down. In another example, if a potential hazard occurs that affects the direction of travel, such as a curve, ramp, etc., the pre-warning information can include corresponding alert information and/or guidance information, such as by voice output and/or display on a mobile phone at the target object 200.
In addition, the control module 12 can weight sum the first information to rank the risk index. The amplitude, such as the frequency of light flashing and/or the sound level and/or the vibration amplitude (of the mobile phone), associated with the pre-warning information is determined based on the risk index and/or the graded adhesion. In one example, the first information of the potential hazard on the lane in which the vehicle 100 is currently located can have a greater weight than the adjacent lane, and in another example, the first information of the potential hazard that is closer to the vehicle 100 or the target object 200 can have a greater weight than the first information of the potential hazard that is farther away. Further, the control module 12 can incorporate the second information into a weighted sum. For example, the current driving speed of the target object 200 can be converted into a corresponding weighting factor for the weighted summation, wherein the greater the driving speed, the greater the criticality and thus the greater the weighting factor.
Subsequently, in case there is a respective potential hazard or the respective hazard index is greater than the respective hazard index threshold, the control module 12 generates respective pre-warning information relating to the respective potential hazard, which includes the presence, category, level, etc. information and is forwarded to the cyclist 200 (i.e. e.g. to the mobile phone) via the information providing module 13.
The information providing module 13, which is also referred to as an information output module, can be a vehicle communication module provided separately, and can be a vehicle communication module provided integrally with the information acquisition module 11. The information providing module 13 forwards the pre-warning information to the accompanying target object 200, as it is shown in fig. 3 by the arrow from the vehicle 100 to the cyclist 200. It is conceivable that the vehicle 100 is also able to upload the warning information together with the position information to the cloud, for example by means of V2N communication, so that these warning information are likewise available to other road users.
By the method and the device, the early warning information can be provided for the following target object, so that the traffic safety, especially the traffic safety of the target object, is improved.
Although specific embodiments of the invention have been described in detail herein, they are presented for purposes of illustration only and are not to be construed as limiting the scope of the invention. Various alternatives and modifications can be devised without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.
