技术领域
本发明是有关一种微发光二极管,特别是关于一种微发光二极管显示面板。
背景技术
微发光二极管(microLED、mLED或μLED)显示面板为平板显示器(flat paneldisplay)的一种,其是由尺寸等级为1~100微米的个别精微(microscopic)发光二极管所组成。相较于传统液晶显示面板,微发光二极管显示面板具有较大对比度及较快反应时间,且消耗较少功率。微发光二极管与有机发光二极管(OLED)虽然同样具有低功耗的特性,但是,微发光二极管因为使用三-五族二极管技术(例如氮化镓),因此相较于有机发光二极管具有较高的亮度(brightness)、较高的发光效能及较长的寿命。
微发光二极管显示面板可分为共阳极(common-anode)机制,其同列的阳极连接在一起;与共阴极(common-cathode)机制,其同行的阴极连接在一起。传统共阳极微发光二极管显示面板具有不均匀的电负载,而传统共阴极微发光二极管显示面板则需要较多资料线(data line)。
因此亟需提出一种新颖机制,以克服传统微发光二极管显示面板的缺点。
发明内容
鉴于上述,本发明实施例的目的之一在于提出一种共阳极微发光二极管显示面板,其共用线(common line)具有均匀电负载,及一种共阴极微发光二极管显示面板,其需要较少资料线。
根据本发明第一实施例,微发光二极管显示面板包含多个微发光二极管,排列为列与行。同列的微发光二极管的阳极连接至相应资料线,同行的像素的阴极连接至相应共同线群,每一共同线连接至不同颜色的微发光二极管的阴极。
较佳地,横向设置的相邻红色微发光二极管、绿色微发光二极管及蓝色微发光二极管构成一像素。
较佳地,连接至共同线的红色微发光二极管的数量、绿色微发光二极管的数量及蓝色微发光二极管的数量为相同。
较佳地,共同线依序驱动,且资料线所提供的影像资料分别具有不同的颜色顺序。
较佳地,共同线场3N+1、共同线场3N+2、共同线场3N+3依序驱动,其中N为非负的整数。

根据本发明第四实施例,微发光二极管显示面板包含多个微发光二极管,排列为列与行,直向设置的相邻红色微发光二极管、绿色微发光二极管及蓝色微发光二极管构成一像素,且直向设置的多个相邻像素构成一像素群。同列的相同颜色的微发光二极管的阳极连接至相应资料线,其共享于同一像素群的像素之间,且像素群的像素的阴极分别连接至相应共同线,其共享于同行的像素群之间。

图1A显示本发明第一实施例的微发光二极管显示面板100的电路图。其中,本实施例的微发光二极管显示面板100可包含多个微发光二极管11,例如红色微发光二极管11R、绿色微发光二极管11G及蓝色微发光二极管11B,排列为列(row)与行(column)。横向设置的相邻红色微发光二极管11R、绿色微发光二极管11G及蓝色微发光二极管11B构成一像素(pixel)12。
在本实施例中,同列的微发光二极管11的阳极连接至相应(单一)资料线(Data)。同行的像素12的阴极连接至相应共同线(COM)群,每一共同线连接至不同颜色的微发光二极管11(的阴极),例如红色微发光二极管11R、绿色微发光二极管11G及蓝色微发光二极管11B。在一实施例中,连接至共同线的红色微发光二极管11R的数量、绿色微发光二极管11G的数量及蓝色微发光二极管11B的数量为相同。因此,共同线的电负载为相同。借此,共同线可设计相同的宽度。
图1B至图1D例示驱动(图1A)微发光二极管显示面板100的时序图。其中,共同线依序驱动(或扫描),例如COM1、COM2、COM3…。如图1B所例示,当扫描第一共同线COM1时,提供红色(影像)资料与相关电流信息I_R于资料线Data 1;当扫描第二共同线COM2时,提供绿色(影像)资料与相关电流信息I_G于资料线Data 1;且当扫描第三共同线COM3时,提供蓝色(影像)资料与相关电流信息I_B于资料线Data 1。值得注意的是,(相关于资料线的)电流信息可在(相邻共同线之间的)线遮没(line blanking)期间提供,且资料线所提供的影像资料分别具有不同的颜色顺序。
图2A显示微发光二极管显示面板200的电路图,其未使用图1A的架构。在微发光二极管显示面板200,每一共同线连接至同行(相同颜色)的微发光二极管11的阴极。由于(同一群的)共同线之间的电负载不相同,因此共同线需设计为不同宽度。通常,所有共同线是设计为最大宽度,因而造成低开口率(aperture ratio),亦即光穿透面积与整个像素面积的比值。
图2B例示驱动(图2A)微发光二极管显示面板200的时序图。类似于图1B至图1D,(相关于资料线的)电流信息可在(相邻共同线之间的)线遮没期间提供,但是资料线所提供的影像资料具有相同的颜色顺序。
图3A显示本发明第二实施例的微发光二极管显示面板300的电路图。(图3A的)微发光二极管显示面板300类似于(图1A的)微发光二极管显示面板100,其差异说明如下。
在本实施例中,同列的相同颜色的微发光二极管11的阳极连接至相应资料线。值得注意的是,本实施例所需资料线的数量是微发光二极管显示面板100的三倍。
图3B例示驱动(图3A)微发光二极管显示面板300与(图1A)微发光二极管显示面板100的时序图。其中,依序驱动(或扫描)共同线场(field)3N+1、共同线场3N+2、共同线场3N+3,其中N为非负的整数。例如,首先驱动COM1、COM4、COM7…的第一共同线场,接着驱动COM2、COM5、COM8…的第二共同线场,再驱动COM3、COM6、COM9…的第三共同线场。如图3B所例示,一个图框(frame)内仅需切换二次定电流,例如从红色微发光二极管11R相应的定电流第一次切换至绿色微发光二极管11G相应的定电流,接着从绿色微发光二极管11G相应的定电流第二次切换至蓝色微发光二极管11B相应的定电流。借此,可避免频繁切换定电流。值得注意的是,(相关于资料线的)电流信息可在(相邻共同线场之间的)场遮没(field blanking)期间提供,因而可以避免(如图2B或图1B至图1D所示)不同颜色之间的频繁切换。
图4A显示本发明第三实施例的微发光二极管显示面板400的俯视示意图。其中,微发光二极管显示面板400受控于时序控制器40,可包含多个区块41,每一区块41由相应驱动器42驱动。图4B至图4D例示(时序控制器40)驱动(图4A)区块41的顺序。根据本实施例的特征之一,相邻区块41在同一时间驱动为不同颜色。特别的是,横向设置相邻的任何三个区块41在同一时间驱动为(三种)不同颜色。借此,区块41之间的电负载为相同。
图5A显示本发明第四实施例的微发光二极管显示面板500的电路图。其中,直向设置的相邻红色微发光二极管11R、绿色微发光二极管11G及蓝色微发光二极管11B构成一像素12,且直向设置的多个(例如三个)相邻像素12构成一像素群(pixel group)13。同列的相同颜色的微发光二极管11的阳极连接至相应资料线,其共享于(share)同一像素群13的像素12之间。像素群13的像素12的阴极分别连接至相应共同线,其共享于同行的像素群13之间。例如,第一像素12的阴极连接至第一共同线COM1,第二像素12的阴极连接至第二共同线COM2,且第三像素12的阴极连接至第三共同线COM3。图5B例示以分时(time-sharing)方式驱动图5A的微发光二极管显示面板500的顺序。
图6显示微发光二极管显示面板600的电路图,其未使用图5A的架构。其中,横向设置的相邻红色微发光二极管11R、绿色微发光二极管11G及蓝色微发光二极管11B构成一像素12。同列的相同颜色的微发光二极管11的阳极连接至相应资料线。同行的像素12的阴极连接至共同线。相较于微发光二极管显示面板500,微发光二极管显示面板600具有较少的共同线,但较多的资料线。

多个微发光二极管,排列为列与行;
其中同列的微发光二极管的阳极连接至相应资料线,同行的像素的阴极连接至相应共同线群,每一共同线连接至不同颜色的微发光二极管的阴极。
2.根据权利要求1所述的微发光二极管显示面板,其特征在于,横向设置的相邻红色微发光二极管、绿色微发光二极管及蓝色微发光二极管构成一像素。
3.根据权利要求1所述的微发光二极管显示面板,其特征在于,连接至共同线的红色微发光二极管的数量、绿色微发光二极管的数量及蓝色微发光二极管的数量为相同。

10.一种微发光二极管显示面板,其特征在于,包含:
时序控制器;
多个驱动器,受控于该时序控制器;及
多个区块,分别受控于相应驱动器;
其中相邻区块在同一时间驱动为不同颜色。
11.根据权利要求10所述的微发光二极管显示面板,其特征在于,横向设置相邻的任何三个区块在同一时间驱动为不同颜色。
12.一种微发光二极管显示面板,其特征在于,包含:
多个微发光二极管,排列为列与行,直向设置的相邻红色微发光二极管、绿色微发光二极管及蓝色微发光二极管构成一像素,且直向设置的多个相邻像素构成一像素群;
其中同列的相同颜色的微发光二极管的阳极连接至相应资料线,其共享于同一像素群的像素之间,且像素群的像素的阴极分别连接至相应共同线,其共享于同行的像素群之间。
