Abstract

Description
背景技术
本发明涉及一种调谐涂料配制物的光泽的方法。本发明的方法可用于实现在销售点制备各种涂料配制物的灵活性。
公众对不同光泽和性能特征的涂料的需求要求零售商店保持大量种类和数量的涂料罐的库存。响应于这些库存压力,零售商已经尝试开发销售点模型,其中涂料在商店生产。然而,没有由经过训练的配方师提供的质量控制和保证,这种模型的商业实施是难以实现的。
US 6,689,824(Friel)公开了将遮光颜料、无机增量剂和粘结剂的预涂料预定共添加到容器中以制作销售点涂料。然而,本发明的范围限于较不复杂的路标涂料配制物,其仅被着色成有限范围的颜色,而不是着色成用于建筑涂料配制物的宽色调的颜色。

其中:i)所述第一涂料和所述第二涂料中的所述有机微球的颜料体积浓度(PVC)在5%PVC至80%PVC的范围内,并且所述第一涂料的可归因于所述有机微球的PVC与所述第二涂料的可归因于所述有机微球的PVC相差至少5个PVC单位;和/或ii)所述第一涂料中的所述着色剂不同于所述第二涂料中的所述着色剂;前提条件是当将着色剂添加到容器中时,将足够的流变改性剂单独添加到所述容器中以在最终涂料中产生85至115Krebbs单位范围内的KU粘度。
在第二方面,本发明是一种在销售点调谐涂料配制物的光泽的方法,所述方法包括以下步骤:

b)通过将所述流变改性剂、所述着色剂、所述聚合物颗粒和所述有机聚合物微球分配到第二容器中,在销售点制备第二涂料;
其中:i)所述第一涂料和所述第二涂料中有机微球的颜料体积浓度(PVC)在5%PVC至80%PVC的范围内,并且所述第一涂料的可归因于所述有机微球的PVC与所述第二涂料的可归因于所述有机微球的PVC相差至少5个PVC单位;和/或ii)所述第一涂料中的所述着色剂不同于所述第二涂料中的所述着色剂。

具体实施方式
在第一方面,本发明是一种方法,所述方法包括以下步骤:

丙烯酸胶乳颗粒优选地用甲基丙烯酸甲酯和选自由以下项组成的组的一种或多种丙烯酸酯官能化:丙烯酸甲酯、丙烯酸乙酯、丙烯酸正丁酯、丙烯酸2-乙基己酯和丙烯酸2-丙基庚酯。如本文所用,指定单体的术语“结构单元”是指单体在聚合后的残留物。例如,丙烯酸正丁酯的结构单元如下说明:

如使用盘式离心光沉积仪(DCP)所测量的,有机聚合物微球的中值重均粒度(D50)在0.7μm、优选地1μm、并且更优选地2μm、并且最优选地4μm,至30μm、优选地至20μm、更优选地至13μm、并且最优选地至10μm的范围内。这些有机聚合物微球的特征在于非膜形成并且优选地具有交联低Tg核,即具有如通过Fox方程式计算的不大于25℃、更优选地不大于15℃并且更优选地不大于10℃的Tg的交联核。
有机聚合物微球的交联核优选地包含一种或多种单烯键式不饱和单体的结构单元,所述单烯键式不饱和单体的均聚物的Tg不大于20℃(低Tg单体),诸如丙烯酸甲酯、丙烯酸乙酯、丙烯酸正丁酯和丙烯酸2-乙基己酯。优选地,交联低Tg核包含基于核的重量计50重量%、更优选地70重量%、更优选地80重量%并且最优选地90重量%,至优选地99重量%、并且更优选地至97.5重量%的低Tg单烯键式不饱和单体的结构单元。丙烯酸正丁酯和丙烯酸2-乙基己酯是用于制备低Tg核的优选的低Tg单烯键式不饱和单体。

交联聚合核优选地包覆有高Tg壳,即Tg为至少50℃、更优选地至少70℃并且最优选地至少90℃的壳。壳优选地包括单体的结构单元,所述单体的均聚物的Tg大于70℃(高Tg单体),诸如甲基丙烯酸甲酯、苯乙烯、甲基丙烯酸异冰片酯、甲基丙烯酸环己酯和甲基丙烯酸叔丁酯。高Tg壳优选地包括至少90重量%的甲基丙烯酸甲酯的结构单元。
有机聚合物微球、优选地包括包覆有高Tg壳的交联低Tg核的微球,可进一步包含基于微球的重量计0.05%至5%的由式I的结构表示的可聚合有机磷酸酯或其盐的结构单元:

有机聚合物微球不同于不透明聚合物,其包含含水核,在将分散体施加到衬底上、然后蒸发之后,所述含水核形成空隙聚合物颗粒。
在本发明的一个方面,将遮光颜料、着色剂或增量剂添加到第一容器和第二容器中。添加到第二容器中的遮光颜料、着色剂或增量剂可以是但不必是与添加到第一容器中相同的遮光颜料、着色剂或增量剂。此外,可将颜料、着色剂和增量剂的组合添加到第一容器和第二容器中。
合适的遮光颜料是折射率大于1.90的无机遮光颜料,包括TiO2和ZnO,其中TiO2是优选的。TiO2的PVC可调谐至所需亮度水平。其它遮光颜料包括有机遮光颜料,诸如不透明聚合物,其可以用作无机颜料的替代物或补充剂;如果用作补充剂,则有机遮光颜料有利地从单独器皿中添加到涂料容器中。ROPAQUETM超不透明聚合物和AQACell HIDE 6299不透明聚合物是不透明聚合物的商业示例。
着色剂是非白色着色剂,并且可以是有机的或无机的。有机着色剂的示例包括酞菁蓝、酞菁绿、单芳基化物黄、二芳基化物黄、苯并咪唑酮黄、杂环黄、喹吖啶酮品红、喹吖啶酮紫、有机红(包括金属化偶氮红和非金属化偶氮红)。无机着色剂包括碳黑、灯黑、氧化铁黑、氧化铁黄、氧化铁棕和氧化铁红。在本发明的一个方面,通过本发明的方法制备的涂料是深色涂料,其中着色剂的浓度基于涂料的重量计在5重量%,优选8重量%,更优选10重量%,至25重量%,更优选至20重量%的范围内。深色涂料包含基本上不存在的遮光颜料和无机增量剂;即,它们包含小于10PVC,优选小于5PVC,更优选小于1PVC,并且最优选0PVC的任何遮光颜料和无机增量剂。
当将着色剂添加到预涂料混合物中时,从单独的容器中添加足量的流变改性剂以保持KU粘度在85至115Krebs单位的范围内。
合适的无机增量剂包括滑石、粘土、云母、绢云母、CaCO3、霞石正长岩、长石、硅灰石、高岭石、磷酸二钙和硅藻土。尽管本发明的方法允许添加增量剂,但优选限制这些增量剂的添加,使得它们的PVC贡献不大于20PVC,更优选不大于10PVC,并且最优选不大于5PVC;进一步优选的是来自无机增量剂的PVC贡献不超过微球的PVC贡献。无机增量剂需要劳动密集型和能量密集型过程,该过程包括从天然沉积位点提取和精制成具有宽泛粒度和形状的粉末。然后将高密度粉末运输到涂层制造厂进行进一步高能量研磨,以将颗粒解聚成有用的初级粒度。所得无机增量剂是具有不同表面形状和表面能量的高表面积材料,需要与粘结剂、增稠剂和添加剂专门配制,以克服提取-精制-研磨工艺中固有的质量控制挑战。因此,依靠无机增量剂以销售点模式、甚至以单一光泽生产多种涂料,为这种模式的成功实施制造了物流障碍。
相反,用于本发明方法的预涂料中的聚合物有机微球避免了与无机增量剂相关的复杂性。聚合物微球可容易地制备成具有所需尺寸和表面能量的均匀形状,从而为涂料制造工艺提供便利性和一致性。
预涂料混合物有利地还包含一种或多种组分,诸如消泡剂、表面活性剂、杀生物剂、聚结剂、分散剂、其它聚合物有机微球和其它胶乳颗粒。
根据下式计算微球PVC:
其中粘结剂是指将颜料和增量剂颗粒粘结在一起的来自聚合物颗粒的水性分散体的聚合物的贡献,增量剂是指非遮光增量剂(包括聚合物有机微球和无机增量剂)的体积。
在本发明的一个方面,有机微球的PVC在第二容器中相差至少5个PVC单位。如本文所用,“5个PVC单位”是指涂料之间有机微球的百分比贡献的差异;例如,10%PVC和15%PVC之间的差异是5个PVC单位的差异。应当理解,本发明的方法可用于制备所需数量的涂料容器和任何所需的PVC,前提条件是第一容器的预涂料和至少一个其它容器的另一种预涂料之间存在至少5个PVC单位的差异。因此,在第二容器中制备第二涂料是指在第一容器中制备涂料之后但不必直接在第一容器中制备涂料之后的另一容器。
值得注意的是,第二涂料的KU粘度可容易地调谐至与第一涂料基本上相同的KU粘度。更特别地,优选的是在添加着色剂之前的预涂料混合物与添加着色剂之后的最终涂料之间的KU粘度差(ΔKU)小于10KU单位,更优选小于5KU单位。进一步优选的是,第一容器和第二容器以及可在销售点的涂料制造过程中使用的所有其它容器具有0.25至5加仑(0.95L至18.9L)的体积容量。
在第二方面,将流变改性剂、着色剂、聚合物颗粒和有机聚合物微球从分开的容器添加以制备第一涂料和第二涂料。在该第二方面中优选的是,所制备的涂料是深色涂料,由此如上所述限制遮光颜料和无机增量剂的添加。在该第二方面中,涂料在有机微球的颜料体积浓度贡献(相差至少5PVC)或着色剂的性质或两者方面不同。
可以多种方式将材料从器皿分配到容器中,包括借助用户界面和控制器,如US 7,695,185和US 6,969,190中所述。
实施例
中间体实施例-丙烯酸微球的分散体的制备
如US 2019/185687、中间体实施例2[第0060段]中所述制备实施例和比较例(中间体1)中使用的微球,并且将其调整至43.5%固体。如US 2019/185687的第[0063]段中所述,如通过DCP所测量,粒度为8.7μm。
表1示出了比较例和实施例涂料配方和KU粘度。实施例1和2是通过将成分添加到多个容器中、然后密封每个容器并使用涡旋混合器混合内容物3min来制备。使用顶置式搅拌器混合比较例1和2的涂料。在每个实施例中,粘结剂是指EVOQUETM 3390全丙烯酸粘结剂;消泡剂是指Byk-024消泡剂;RM1是指ACRYSOLTM RM-2020NPR;并且RM2是指ACRYSOLTM RM-8W。(EVOQUE和ACRYSOL是陶氏化学公司(The Dow Chemical Company)或其附属公司的商标。)红色是指Colortrend 808氧化铁红着色剂;并且蓝色是指Colortrend 808酞菁蓝着色剂。
表1示出了深色涂料配方。使用顶置式搅拌器将比较例1和2的涂料共混15分钟,并且使用涡旋混合器将实施例1和2的涂料共混3分钟。

比较例深色涂料模拟在销售点将着色剂添加到完全配制的涂料中。在这种模型中,涂料经历KU的显著下降,其不能被进一步调节。另一方面,含有所有成分(包括着色剂和经调节的流变改性剂)的实施例深色涂料产生具有恒定和可接受粘度的涂料。
Claims (11)
1.一种方法,所述方法包括以下步骤:a)通过将遮光颜料、着色剂或无机增量剂添加到第一容器中来制备第一涂料,所述第一容器部分地填充有流变改性剂、z平均粒度在50nm至600nm范围内的聚合物颗粒和中值重均(D50)粒度在0.7μm至30μm范围内的有机聚合物微球的第一水性预涂料混合物;以及
b)通过将所述遮光颜料、所述着色剂或所述无机增量剂添加到第二容器中来制备第二涂料,所述第二容器部分地填充有所述流变改性剂、所述聚合物颗粒和所述有机聚合物微球的第二水性预涂料混合物;
其中:i)所述第一涂料和所述第二涂料中的所述有机微球的颜料体积浓度(PVC)在5%PVC至80%PVC的范围内,并且所述第一涂料的可归因于所述有机微球的PVC与所述第二涂料的可归因于所述有机微球的PVC相差至少5个PVC单位;和/或ii)所述第一涂料中的所述着色剂不同于所述第二涂料中的所述着色剂;前提条件是当将着色剂添加到容器中时,将足够的流变改性剂单独添加到所述容器中以在最终涂料中产生85至115Krebbs单位范围内的KU粘度。
2.根据权利要求1所述的方法,其中将着色剂添加到所述第一容器和所述第二容器中,并且将足够的流变改性剂添加到所述第一容器和所述第二容器中的每一个容器中以在所述最终涂料中产生在85至115Krebbs单位范围内的KU粘度。
3.根据权利要求2所述的方法,其中所述着色剂以足够的水平加入,以在所述第一涂料和所述第二涂料中的每一个涂料中达到5重量%至25重量%的浓度。
4.根据权利要求3所述的方法,其中遮光颜料和无机增量剂在所述涂料中的所述颜料体积浓度小于5PVC。
5.根据权利要求2所述的方法,其中所述第一涂料和所述第二涂料具有至少5个PVC单位的可归因于所述有机微球的颜料体积浓度差。
6.根据权利要求2所述的方法,其中所述第一涂料中的所述着色剂不同于所述第二涂料中的所述着色剂。
7.根据权利要求2所述的方法,其中所述水性预涂料混合物与所述涂料之间的KU粘度差小于10Krebbs单位。
8.根据权利要求7所述的方法,其中所述水性预涂料混合物与所述涂料之间的KU粘度差小于5Krebbs单位。
9.一种方法,所述方法包括以下步骤:
a)通过将以下各项以任何顺序或同时分配到第一容器中,在销售点制备第一涂料:
i)来自第一器皿的流变改性剂的水性溶液;
ii)来自第二器皿的着色剂的水性分散体;
iii)来自第三器皿的z平均粒度在50nm至600nm范围内的聚合物颗粒的水性分散体;以及
iv)来自第四器皿的中值重均(D50)粒度在0.7μm至30μm范围内的有机聚合物微球的水性分散体;以及
b)通过将所述流变改性剂、所述着色剂、所述聚合物颗粒和所述有机聚合物微球分配到第二容器中,在销售点制备第二涂料;
其中:i)所述第一涂料和所述第二涂料中的所述有机微球的颜料体积浓度(PVC)在5%PVC至80%PVC的范围内,并且所述第一涂料的可归因于所述有机微球的PVC与所述第二涂料的可归因于所述有机微球的PVC相差至少5个PVC单位;和/或ii)所述第一涂料中的所述着色剂不同于所述第二涂料中的所述着色剂。
10.根据权利要求9所述的方法,其中所述第一涂料和所述第二涂料中的所述有机微球的PVC在5%PVC至80%PVC的范围内,并且所述第一涂料的可归因于所述有机微球的PVC与所述第二涂料的可归因于所述有机微球的PVC相差至少5个PVC单位。
11.根据权利要求9所述的方法,其中所述第一涂料中的所述着色剂不同于所述第二涂料中的所述着色剂。
