Fig. 1 is a flowchart illustrating steps of a method for testing performance of a video transcoding card according to an embodiment of the present invention, where the method is applied to a test server, where the test server includes a video processing tool and a video transcoding card.
In the embodiment of the invention, the test server can be built by the following method: a Central Processing Unit (CPU), a memory, a hard disk, a fan, a power supply, and other hardware devices are installed on a motherboard of the test server, and an operating system is powered on and installed, where the type and version of the operating system are not limited, where the operating system may be a linux system, and the operating system may be a redcat 8.1 system, for example. The Video Processing tool may be an FFmpeg, and the Video transcoding card may be a Video Processing Unit (VPU) accelerator card for performing hard decoding, and the Video Processing tool may call the Video transcoding card to transcode the Video file to be transcoded.
As shown in fig. 1, the method may include:
step 101, determining a target test parameter from at least two test parameters supported by a test tool in the test server; the target test parameters include target thread parameters.
The test tool may be a preset script, and the preset script may be an executable file configured in advance by a user, and may run in any path under the test server system, for example, a performance monitoring script: sh, performance. The test parameters used in the performance test may be determined by running the preset script, and for example, the content of the preset script may be configured as a command for reading the test parameters input by the user.
In the embodiment of the invention, the test tool can support at least two test parameters, and the current target test parameters can be determined by inputting the test parameters used in the performance test in the test tool by a user. The test parameters may include a target thread parameter indicating the number of working threads used by the video encoder.
Step 102, generating a transcoding instruction including the target test parameter for the video processing tool.
In the embodiment of the invention, after the target test parameters are determined, the target test parameters are used as the input parameters to be written into the transcoding instruction, and the transcoding instruction is used for instructing a video processing tool to call a video transcoding card to carry out transcoding operation according to the target test parameters.
And 103, issuing the transcoding instruction to the video processing tool to control the video processing tool to call the video transcoding card to perform transcoding operation on the video file to be transcoded according to the thread number indicated by the target thread parameter.
In the embodiment of the invention, based on the video processing tool and the video transcoding card in the test server, transcoding operation is carried out on the video file to be transcoded according to the thread number indicated by the target thread parameter. The number of threads indicated by the target thread parameter may be single-pass or multi-pass. The video file to be transcoded may be a video file in H264, HEVC, or VP9 format, and the resolution of the video file may be 720P, 1080P, 4K, and the like, which is not limited in this embodiment of the present application.
Specifically, a transcoding command including the target test parameter may be issued to the video processing tool, and the video processing tool invokes the video transcoding card through the PCIE interface to transcode the video file to be transcoded based on the number of threads indicated by the target thread parameter in response to the transcoding command. The mode of calling the video transcoding card through the PCIE interface may specifically be: the video transcoding cards are registered and integrated in the video processing tool, and for example, the video transcoding cards can be added into a video codec chain of an FFmpeg, and the FFmpeg can inquire the video transcoding cards supported by the system through a command (such as FFmpeg-hwaccels) and designate one or more video transcoding cards to transcode the video files to be transcoded.
In the embodiment of the invention, the transcoding instruction comprising the target test parameter is issued to the video processing tool, and the video transcoding card is called to transcode, so that the test parameter used by the performance test can be provided for the video transcoding card, and the video transcoding card can automatically transcode based on the target test parameter. Meanwhile, the video transcoding card is called by the video processing tool to transcode, and the video transcoding card mainly consumes the computing resources inside the video transcoding card when performing video transcoding, so that the CPU computing resource consumption caused by video data transcoding processing is reduced compared with the CPU transcoding.
In the embodiment of the present invention, the video transcoding card may be connected to a function expansion card or a switch card inserted into a PCIE (peripheral component interconnect express) interface of the test server, so as to install the video transcoding card in the test server. The software environment of the video transcoding card can be constructed in the following way: and installing a driver software package and an instid dynamic library of the video transcoding card, checking whether the driver is successfully installed through a command after the installation is finished, and running a video processing tool to test whether the video transcoding card can be normally executed. The driver software package can select a driver installation package of the video transcoding card corresponding to the current operating system to be installed according to the operating system of the test server, and different operating systems can correspond to driver installation packages of different versions. For example, a Baseboard Management Controller (BMC) may be installed on a motherboard of the test server, a system image is installed under the BMC, and mapped to/mnt, and the necessary basic software is installed using yum, such as: gcc, git, patch, xorg, etc. And decompressing the drive installation package of the video transcoding card, and executing the decompressed drive installation package in a path. And after the installation is finished, whether the driver is successfully installed is checked through a command, and a video processing tool is operated to test whether the video transcoding card can be normally executed.
And 104, acquiring a target performance value matched with the target thread parameter in the transcoding operation, and generating a test result according to the target performance value and the calibration performance value of the video transcoding card.
In the embodiment of the invention, the target performance value is obtained according to the parameter value generated in the process of transcoding the video file to be transcoded by the video transcoding card, and can comprise the transcoding frame number, the transcoding rate, the transcoding quality and the like. According to the difference of the thread number indicated by the target thread parameter, different target performance values matched with the target thread parameter can be obtained. The target performance value may be obtained by automatically analyzing the parameter value generated in the transcoding process directly by the test server, or may be obtained by manually analyzing the parameter value in the transcoding process, which is not limited in the embodiment of the present invention.
In order to enable a user to clearly know the performance of the currently used video transcoding card, corresponding test data is obtained based on a target performance value, the test data is compared with a calibration performance value of the video transcoding card, a test result is generated according to the comparison result and displayed, the test result can be displayed in the form of a test log, and the test log can comprise the target performance value, a test conclusion, a delay value (latency), the size of the test data (size), the current test time (time), the bit rate (bitrate) of the current test, and the ratio (speed) of the video time to the actual time. The test result can reflect the actual transcoding performance of the video transcoding card for transcoding according to the thread number indicated by the target thread parameter. Exemplarily, in the case that the thread number is single, the target performance value includes the maximum frame number per second of the picture, and the obtained test data is the maximum frame number per second of the picture; under the condition that the number of the threads is multiple, the target performance value comprises the number of frames per second of pictures corresponding to each thread, and the obtained test data is the maximum number of transcoding threads.
Optionally, before the video transcoding card transcodes the video file to be transcoded according to the number of threads, the video file to be transcoded is obtained and the file format of the video file to be transcoded is determined. The video file to be transcoded may be a video file on a certain video server, or may be a video stream obtained by shooting with a camera. For example, a video acquisition command (e.g., avformat _ open _ input) may be executed through a generic interface of the FFmpeg program to acquire corresponding video stream data, and a file format of a video file to be transcoded is identified through an ffprobe tool.
In summary, in the embodiment of the present invention, the current target test parameter is determined from at least two test parameters supported by the test tool in the test server; the target test parameters comprise target thread parameters; generating transcoding instructions for the video processing tool comprising target test parameters; the transcoding instruction is issued to a video processing tool to control the video processing tool to call a video transcoding card to perform transcoding operation on a video file to be transcoded according to the number of threads indicated by the target thread parameter; and acquiring a target performance value matched with the target thread parameter in transcoding operation, and generating a test result according to the target performance value and the calibration performance value of the video transcoding card. Therefore, the performance test method for the video transcoding card provided by the embodiment of the invention supports various test parameters, can be applied to various test environments, and provides a universal test mode for the performance of the video transcoding card in different test environments. Meanwhile, the performance test result of the video transcoding card can be obtained by comparing the measured target performance value with the calibrated performance value, so that the actual performance of the video transcoding card can be more intuitively obtained, and the performance of the video transcoding card can be evaluated according to the test result.
Furthermore, by determining the test parameters of the current transcoding operation from various test parameters and performing performance test on the video transcoding card based on the current test parameters, the performance of the video transcoding card in the test environment corresponding to the target test parameters can be tested according to the user requirements, and the test range of the performance test is improved to a certain extent while the user test requirements are met.

The target test parameters include target thread parameters.
In the embodiment of the invention, the same number of test operations can be performed according to the number of the test parameters supported by the test tool, one test operation corresponds to one group of target test parameters, and the test tool supports at least two test parameters, so that at least two test operations can be performed on the video transcoding card. And aiming at the test parameters supported by any test tool, taking the test parameters as target test parameters to test the video transcoding card. That is, all the test parameters supported by the test tool can be traversed to perform the test operation on the video transcoding card.

In the embodiment of the invention, at least two test operations are carried out based on at least two test parameters, and the target performance values obtained in the test process of the at least two test parameters are compared to obtain a comparison result, wherein the comparison result can reflect the performance difference of the same transcoding card based on different test parameters.
In the embodiment of the invention, at least two test operations are carried out on the video transcoding card by utilizing at least two test parameters, so that the performance difference of the video transcoding card in the test environments corresponding to different test parameters can be more intuitively obtained based on the obtained target performance value, and a user can conveniently carry out multi-dimensional analysis and evaluation on the performance of the video transcoding card.
Optionally, the target test parameters further include a target transcoding format selected from at least two transcoding formats supported by the test tool and a target transcoding parameter set selected from at least two transcoding parameter sets supported by the test tool.
In the embodiment of the present invention, the target test parameters may include not only target thread parameters, but also a target transcoding format and a target transcoding parameter set. The target transcoding format is obtained by inputting the transcoding format used by the performance test in the test tool by the user, and the target transcoding parameter set is obtained by inputting the transcoding parameter set used by the performance test in the test tool by the user. The test tool supports at least two transcoding formats and at least two transcoding parameter sets.
The transcoding formats supported by the test tool may include an encoding format and a decoding format, the transcoding format is consistent with the encoding format and the decoding format supported by the video transcoding card, for example, the encoding format may include H264, HEVC, and VP9, and the decoding format may include H264, HEVC, and VP9. The transcoding parameter sets are parameter sets affecting encoding performance and encoding speed, a preset mode used for transcoding the video file to be transcoded can be determined based on the transcoding parameter sets, each preset mode corresponds to a group of encoding parameters, the transcoding parameter sets corresponding to different preset modes are not consistent, and the preset mode can include: superslow, slow, medium, fast, superfast, etc. The higher the preset mode level is, the slower the encoding speed is, and the higher the decoded quality is; the lower the preset mode level, the faster the encoding speed, and the worse the decoded image quality.
In one possible implementation, the command to read the target thread parameter input by the user can be expressed as:
Please input TEST MODE:
the selectable modes comprise a mode 1 and a mode 2, wherein the mode 1 indicates that when a user keys in 1, the thread number indicated by the target thread parameter is one path; mode 2 indicates that when the user types 2, the number of threads indicated by the target thread parameter is multiple.

Based on the content of the user input, corresponding target test parameters may be determined.
Optionally, the target test parameters may further include a visual optimization parameter set, and a tune mode used when transcoding the video file to be transcoded may be determined based on the visual optimization parameter set, which may exemplarily include: flim, animation, grain, stillmage, psnr, ssm, fastdecode, zeropercent, etc., which should not be construed as a limitation of the embodiments of the present invention.
Accordingly, step 103 may include the steps of:
and step 1031, calling the video transcoding card to transcode the video file to be transcoded according to the thread number, the target transcoding format and the target transcoding parameter set.
In the embodiment of the invention, a transcoding command comprising the thread number, the target transcoding format and the target transcoding parameter set is issued to a video processing tool, and the video processing tool responds to the transcoding command and invokes a video transcoding card to transcode a video file to be transcoded based on the thread number indicated by the target thread parameter, the target transcoding format and the target transcoding parameter set through a PCIE interface. Illustratively, under the conditions that the number of threads indicated by the target thread parameter is one path, the target coding format in the target transcoding format is the H264 format, the target decoding format is the VP9 format, and the preset mode indicated by the target transcoding parameter set is the medium mode, the video transcoding card is invoked to use the medium mode to perform single-path decoding on the video file to be transcoded through the H264 format, and then perform single-path coding through the HEVC format, so as to obtain video code stream data in the HEVC format.
In the embodiment of the invention, the video transcoding card can transcode the video file to be transcoded according to the thread number, the target transcoding format and the target transcoding parameter set by selecting the target transcoding format and the target transcoding parameter set, so that the testing dimension of the video transcoding card is enriched, the selection range of a testing environment is increased, and the selectivity of a performance testing environment is ensured.
Optionally, step 1031 may include the following steps:
step 1031a, in case that the thread number is single, invoking a decoder in the video transcoding card, and creating a single-thread transcoding task for the video file to be transcoded.
In the embodiment of the invention, under the condition that the thread number indicated by the target thread parameter is single, the video transcoding card is indicated to need to perform single-channel transcoding operation on the video file to be transcoded. And calling a decoder in the video transcoding card to create a single-thread transcoding task, wherein the single-thread transcoding task is used for transcoding the video file to be transcoded by using the decoder.
Step 1031b, based on the single-thread transcoding task, performing single-pass decoding operation on the video file to be transcoded according to the decoding format defined in the target transcoding format and the first parameter in the target transcoding parameter set, and performing single-pass encoding operation on the decoded video file to be transcoded according to the encoding format defined in the target transcoding format and the second parameter in the target transcoding parameter set.
The first parameter in the target transcoding parameter set refers to a parameter according to which a decoding operation is performed, and the second parameter refers to a parameter according to which an encoding operation is performed. The first parameter and the second parameter may be the same.
In the embodiment of the invention, a decoder performs single-path decoding on a video file to be transcoded according to a decoding format and a first parameter based on a single-thread transcoding task, and then performs single-path encoding according to an encoding format and a second parameter to obtain the transcoded video file.
Correspondingly, the obtaining the target performance value in the transcoding operation includes:
step 1031c, obtaining the maximum frame number per second of picture transmission in the single decoding operation and the single encoding operation as the target performance value.
In the embodiment of the invention, the Frame Per Second (FPS) of the pictures in the single-channel decoding operation and the single-channel coding operation is recorded, the maximum Frame Per Second of the pictures is determined in all the frames Per Second, and the maximum Frame Per Second of the pictures is obtained as the target performance value under the condition that the thread number is single. In a possible embodiment, since the FPS value of the video transcoding card fluctuates during transcoding, in order to ensure the practicability and feasibility of the test result, the steady-state value that the final frame per second transmission frame number of the video transcoding card reaches during transcoding may be used as the maximum frame per second transmission frame number of the video. Further, the step of determining the maximum frames per second may be automatically analyzed by the test server, or may be manually determined that the final steady state value of the frames per second is the maximum frames per second, and the maximum frames per second is input to the test server to generate the test result.
In the embodiment of the invention, the number of threads is limited to be single, and the single-channel transcoding operation is carried out on the video file to be transcoded based on the target transcoding format and the target transcoding parameter set, so that the maximum performance value which can be reached by the video transcoding card in the single-channel transcoding operation process can be obtained, namely the optimal performance value which can be reached by the video transcoding card is measured.
Optionally, step 1031 may further include the following steps:
and 1031d, under the condition that the number of the threads is multiple, calling a decoder in the video transcoding card, and creating a multi-thread transcoding task for the video file to be transcoded.
In the embodiment of the invention, under the condition that the number of threads indicated by the target thread parameter is multiple, the video transcoding card is indicated to need to perform multi-channel transcoding operation on the video file to be transcoded. And calling a decoder in the video transcoding card to create a multi-thread transcoding task, wherein the multi-thread transcoding task is used for transcoding the video file to be transcoded by using the decoder.
Step 1031e, based on the multi-thread transcoding task, performing multi-channel decoding operation on the video file to be transcoded according to the decoding format defined in the target transcoding format and the first parameter in the target transcoding parameter set, and performing multi-channel encoding operation on the decoded video file to be transcoded according to the encoding format defined in the target transcoding format and the second parameter in the target transcoding parameter set.
In the embodiment of the invention, a decoder performs multi-channel decoding on a video file to be transcoded according to a decoding format and a first parameter based on a multi-thread transcoding task, and then performs multi-channel coding according to a coding format and a second parameter to obtain the transcoded video file.
Correspondingly, the obtaining the target performance value in the transcoding operation includes:
step 1031f, obtaining the frames per second transmission frame number of the picture corresponding to each thread in the multi-channel decoding operation and the multi-channel encoding operation process, and taking the frames per second transmission frame number as the target performance value.
In the embodiment of the invention, the number of frames per second of pictures corresponding to each thread in the multi-channel decoding operation and the multi-channel coding operation process is recorded and acquired as the target performance value under the condition that the number of threads is multiple.
In the embodiment of the invention, the multi-channel transcoding operation is carried out on the video file to be transcoded based on the target transcoding format and the target transcoding parameter set, the test environment of a multi-channel working thread can be met, and the corresponding target performance value is obtained based on the frame number per second of the picture corresponding to each channel of thread, so that the maximum thread number of the video transcoding card which can be concurrent in the transcoding process can be calculated based on the target performance value.
Optionally, before step 102, the embodiment of the present invention further includes the following steps:
step 301, clearing the process related to the video processing tool in the test server.
In the embodiment of the invention, before the preset script is run, the transcoding card may have other transcoding tasks being executed, and other transcoding tasks related to the video processing tool in the test server are eliminated, so that the influence of other transcoding tasks on the accuracy of the performance test on the video transcoding card is avoided.
Optionally, in a case where the number of threads is single, the target performance value includes a maximum number of frames per second of pictures transmitted. Step 104 may include the steps of:
and 1041, if the maximum frame transmission per second is not less than the calibrated maximum frame transmission per second of the video transcoding card, generating a test result indicating that the test is qualified.
The maximum frame transmission per second of the images to be calibrated can be determined according to basic parameters of the video transcoding card, namely the maximum frame transmission per second of the images supported by the video transcoding card theory.
In the embodiment of the invention, the maximum frame transmission number per second of the image is compared with the maximum frame transmission number calibrated by the video transcoding card, and the qualified performance test of the video transcoding card is represented under the condition that the maximum frame transmission number per second of the image is not less than the calibrated maximum frame transmission number per second of the image, and then a test result representing the qualified test is generated. For example, the test level corresponding to the test result may be displayed according to the difference between the maximum frame number per second of the pictures and the calibrated maximum frame number per second of the pictures, and the test level may include an a-D level. A. The B rating indicates the test was passed. For example: and displaying the test result as A grade under the condition that the maximum picture transmission frame per second is not less than the calibrated maximum picture transmission frame per second and the difference between the maximum picture transmission frame per second and the calibrated maximum picture transmission frame per second is greater than a preset difference.
And 1042, if the maximum frame transmission per second is less than the calibrated maximum frame transmission per second of the video transcoding card, generating a test result indicating that the test is unqualified.
In the embodiment of the invention, under the condition that the maximum frame number per second of the pictures is less than the calibrated maximum frame number per second of the pictures, the performance test of the video transcoding card is represented to be unqualified, and a test result representing the unqualified test is generated. Illustratively, the test grade corresponding to the test result can be displayed according to the difference value between the maximum frame number per second of the pictures and the calibrated maximum frame number per second of the pictures, and the C, D grade indicates that the test is unqualified. For example: and under the condition that the maximum picture frame transmission per second is less than the calibrated maximum picture frame transmission per second and the difference between the maximum picture frame transmission per second and the calibrated maximum picture frame transmission per second is greater than a preset difference, displaying the test result as a D grade.
In the embodiment of the invention, the maximum frame number per second of the pictures is compared with the calibrated maximum frame number per second of the pictures, so that the maximum frame number per second of the pictures which can be actually reached by the video transcoding card in the process of executing the single-channel transcoding operation can be obtained, and the actual performance of the single-channel transcoding of the video transcoding card can be further obtained.
Optionally, when the number of threads is multiple, the target performance value includes a number of frames per second transmitted frames of pictures corresponding to each thread. Step 104 may also include the steps of:
and 1043, calculating the number of the threads of which the number of the transmission frames per second of the pictures corresponding to each thread is not less than the number of the transmission frames per second of the preset pictures, and obtaining the maximum transcoding thread number.
The preset frame number per second of the picture can be set according to the user's requirement, and exemplarily, the preset frame number per second of the picture can be 30fps.
In the embodiment of the invention, whether the number of transmission frames per second of all the pictures corresponding to each path of thread is smaller than the number of transmission frames per second of the preset pictures is detected, the number of threads of which the number of transmission frames per second of the pictures corresponding to each path of thread is not smaller than the number of transmission frames per second of the preset pictures is calculated, and the maximum transcoding thread number under the condition of a plurality of threads is obtained. The maximum transcoding thread number represents the maximum transcoding thread number which can be reached by the video transcoding card on the premise of meeting the use requirements of users.
And step 1044, if the maximum transcoding thread number is not less than the calibrated maximum transcoding thread number of the video transcoding card, generating a test result indicating that the test is qualified.
The maximum transcoding thread number can be determined according to basic parameters of the video transcoding card, namely the maximum transcoding thread number theoretically supported by the video transcoding card.
In the embodiment of the invention, the maximum transcoding thread number is compared with the maximum transcoding thread number calibrated by the video transcoding card, and the performance test of the video transcoding card is qualified under the condition that the maximum transcoding thread number is not less than the calibrated maximum transcoding thread number, so that a test result representing the qualified test is generated. For example, the test level corresponding to the test result may be displayed according to a difference between the maximum transcoding route number and the calibrated maximum transcoding route number, and the test level may include an a-D level. A. The B rating indicates the test was passed. For example: and displaying the test result as grade A under the condition that the maximum transcoding route number is not less than the calibrated maximum transcoding route number and the difference value between the maximum transcoding route number and the calibrated maximum transcoding route number is greater than a preset difference value.
And 1045, if the maximum transcoding thread number is less than the calibrated maximum transcoding thread number of the video transcoding card, generating a test result indicating that the test is unqualified.
In the embodiment of the invention, under the condition that the maximum transcoding thread number is less than the calibrated maximum transcoding thread number, the performance test of the video transcoding card is represented to be unqualified, and a test result representing the unqualified test is generated. Illustratively, the grade corresponding to the test result can be displayed according to the difference value between the maximum transcoding thread number and the calibrated maximum transcoding thread number, and the C, D grade represents that the test is unqualified. For example: and displaying the test result as a D grade under the condition that the maximum transcoding route number is less than the calibrated maximum transcoding route number and the difference value between the maximum transcoding route number and the calibrated maximum transcoding route number is greater than a preset difference value.
In the embodiment of the invention, the maximum transcoding thread number which can be actually reached by the video transcoding card in the multi-channel transcoding operation can be obtained by comparing the maximum transcoding thread number with the calibrated maximum transcoding thread number, so that the actual multi-channel transcoding performance of the video transcoding card is obtained.
Video transcoding is a highly computationally intensive process that requires full decoding of the incoming video stream, video filtering/image processing, and full encoding of the output format. However, due to some limitations of the CPU, the memory, and the PCIE link of the test server or the video transcoding card itself, the nominal parameters of the video transcoding card cannot be reached, which may cause the final transcoding result to be unsatisfactory. In the embodiment of the application, the actual performance value of the video transcoding card is compared with the nominal performance value, so that the actual transcoding capacity of the video transcoding card can be visually obtained, and the performance of the video transcoding card is evaluated. Meanwhile, different target performance values are determined according to the thread number, the target performance values are compared with corresponding calibration values of the video transcoding cards, test results of the video transcoding cards under different working thread numbers can be directly generated based on different test standards, and the efficiency of performance test is improved.
Optionally, in the process of transcoding the video file to be transcoded by the video transcoding card, the current test state of each transcoding task can be checked in real time.
Optionally, after the transcoding operation of the video transcoding card is completed, whether error reporting information of the video transcoding card or error reporting information related to the memory exists in a log stored in a specified path in the test server is checked, so that adjustment or repair can be performed in time according to the error reporting information, and meanwhile, under the condition that the error reporting information exists in the log, performance test can be performed again, so that the test reliability of the performance test is ensured. The log may include a system log and an event log of the BMC.
