The invention discloses a device and a method for horizontal butt joint installation and removal of large-scale equipment, wherein the device comprises an equipment base, a sliding support component, two guide rails, a jacking component, a fixed base and a redundant base, the top end of the equipment base is provided with butt joint equipment, the bottom of the equipment base is provided with the sliding support component, the sliding support component is in sliding joint with the two guide rails, the fixed base and the redundant base are arranged between the two guide rails, the fixed base outside the two guide rails is provided with the jacking component, when the equipment base slides to the upper part of the fixed base, the jacking component can jack the equipment base, the invention can overcome the influence and restriction of three-dimensional space around the equipment, can smoothly realize the horizontal butt joint installation or removal of the large-scale equipment, and effectively reduces the construction difficulty of the horizontal butt joint installation and removal of the large-scale equipment, and the operation safety risk and uncertainty are greatly reduced.
